Mitch Daniels is no conservative. You’ve been on FR three months and learned nothing.

Let's talk about who knows what about Daniels for a minute. I'm a Hoosier. I hope you are too. Daniels is one of the few that talks more moderate and ACTS more conservative. He reduced and leveled property taxes, Lowered business taxes, has resisted state legislation regulating businesses (smoking, etc.), he sued the fed for Chrystler bond holder dismissal, he sued the fed over obamacare.

We were in a deficit budget situation when he came to office. We are now in a budget surplus situation. He cut state government in everything from government autos to education budets.

Have you heard the latest? Indiana will become a Right to Work state soon. Democrats have been fleeing the state for two years to avoid it.

What say you of his being a moderate?

Under Daniel's leadership, Indiana has decertified state employee unions, has adopted the most pro-life abortion restrictions in America, has adopted the most expansive school voucher program in America, has turned in deficit accumulated under the prior Democrat administrations into a surplus and is about to adopt a right to work law. When an Indianapolis federal judge ordered the state legislature to stop opening every session with a prayer, Daniels publicly chastised him (and, with the Republican Attorney General, successfully got the order overruled). Some politicians are show horses, some are work horses. Daniels is a work horse.

Well, I did learn to count, which is more than I can say for your "three months" comment. What happened? Run out of fingers or something?

I also learned to make more than ipse dixit "is not" arguments. Daniels ended public employee unions out on the very first day he took office. Indiana has the lowest number of public employees per capita in the entire country. He has privatized some state operations, moved to a medical savings account program for state employees to give more choice and to save the State money, and last year, reformed education to give more school choice. Read about that if you'd like to:

Oh, and this year, he's pushing to make Indiana the first Great Lakes state to adopt Right to Work, doing something no other Republican Governor in any of those states has done. What non-conservative does those kind of things?

btw, regarding the date joined, there was a problem with my password for my original ID that JR couldn't fix. My old screename was XJarhead, and I joined back in November 2000. So congratulations -- you've got me by 9 months or so. I bow to your superiority for belonging to a message board for longer than me.
