1st convictions from Fast and Furious gun probe
KPHO ^ | Jan 24, 2012

Two men pleaded guilty to buying guns that were destined to be smuggled into Mexico, the first convictions in the federal government's botched Operation Fast and Furious.

The men were so-called "straw buyers" who acknowledged purchasing guns that they knew were headed to Mexican drug gangs.

The goal of the federal government's investigation was to catch weapons-trafficking kingpins, but firearms agents lost track of many weapons they were trying to trace to smuggling ringleaders, and some guns ended up at crime scenes in Mexico and the U.S.

Jacob Wayne Chambers and Jacob Anthony Montelongo each pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to a conspiracy charge. Montelongo also pleaded guilty to dealing guns without a license.

The pair admitted being part of a 20-person smuggling ring that is accused of running guns into Mexico for use by the Sinaloa drug cartel.

...

Trial for the remaining alleged ring members is set for Sept. 25. They have pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

The two guns that mortally wounded Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry weren’t purchased by Chambers and Montelongo — instead were bought by another ring member.

Botched???? Nope. Fast and Furious was uncovered. Until that happened it was running smoothly and per plan - the guns were moving South.

I wonder, when the first sentence in an article is a basically a lie, should I read on or just call it quits?

Most of the sellers were instructed by BATFE to go through with the sales. Thankfully, several of the shops recorded the exchanges.

This is the crap that the industry has to deal with from BATFE. Our regulatory agency has no checks and balances and is very hostile to us. EVERYTHING is recorded in my shop. We have to do that because BATFE has been caught trying to plant evidence, stealing, lying, and much, much more in their interactions with the industry. We’re not taking any chances.

Don’t blame the sellers when the regulatory agency tried to frame them. BATFE needs to go away and never come back. They’ve committed economic terrorism to many members of the industry and they are currently violating Constitutional and Federal law by not applying their rulings equally under the color of law.

“Most of the sellers were instructed by BATFE to go through with the sales.”

I know. I wasn’t speaking of the gunshop owners. I was speaking of the atf and holder, et al. This includes anyone who had anything to do with this in any fed agency and the state department. I would also include obama who HAD to have signed off on this for myriad of reasons.
That’s who I meant by sellers, not the poor schmucks they would have tried to frame.

G-d bless you, man. I have been following this story since day one...and investigating government corruption far longer than that...even before joining FR. It is far worse than most people would ever believe if they have never experienced it. More likely, they HAVE experienced it and simply don’t know it.

Ah, I get ya. Yeah, we’re working on going after the criminals in DOJ over this. The industry is happy to work with Rep. Issa on this matter should he need our assistance in any way.

We’ve also noted a very vengeful attitude being shown by ATF right now. We believe they are about to engage in an agency level economic and regulatory terrorism campaign against much of the industry.

It’ll get much worse before it gets fixed. But ATF isn’t making matters any better for themselves by doing what they are doing. They’re going to face what will basically be an open revolt against them by the industry. They’re going to be watched like hawks on a mouse when ever they interact with the industry where ever it may be.
