Norwegian Air has signed deals valued at $21.5 billion for 222 Boeing Co. and Airbus single-aisle aircraft, the carrier said Wednesday.
The carrier ordered 100 of Boeing's new 737 MAX jets and 22 of Boeing's existing 737 aircraft. Its Boeing's largest order ever from a European airline, Boeing said.
The Boeing order is valued at $11.4 billion at list prices, though airlines negotiate discounts, especially on large orders like this one.

I travel overseas several times annually and have never heard of Norwegian Air. Apparently I need to get around Europe more. Wow. That is a heck of an order.

Like that’s going to happen. SC is a final assembly and delivery center for the 787 Dreamliner and has nothing to do with the 737 or 737 MAX. Boeing has already decided to build the MAX in Washington, and us Washinton Boeing Freepers are just fine with that. And contrary to popular belief, Boeing Puget Sound employs a lot of salaried non-union people.

Southwest is also supposed to be upgrading a good chunk of its fleet with the new 737 MAX jets. Maybe a great few years for Boeing if Obama doesn’t screw something up (any bets if he will try)?
Perhaps this is a leasing operation.
I see nothing but growth for both companies. It’s a big planet, and more of us will want to travel it. Airline travel now is where autos were in 1960, a rich country’s activity.
We have billions or persons that want what we’ve have.

It is interesting that they would split their fleet with similar aircraft. Adding additional training infrastructure and a logistics chain.
I get to fly into Paine field and Moses Lake a lot and it is great to see the new airplanes coming out. The wing on the 787 is so amazing. It really looks like it belongs on a bird.
Yep. There are only two airlines to make it through the massive airline slump of 2000-2005 without going in the red. Ryanair and Southwest. Both have all Boeing 737 fleets, and both keep operating cost to the minimum. Other airlines should learn from them.
