When they interrogated him he cited this urination incident as the reason which infuriated him to the point of doing what he did. Listing examples of what they did to our people means dick. If the enemy does something wedont agree with, or is not in our principles, we dont turn around and do the same thing. We are meant to be held at a higher standard.
1st, our troops didn’t do the “same thing”, or anything close.
2nd, no one is saying it is okay. West said they should be reprimanded under article 15, that a letter should be in their files, and that they should apologize to the troops and the country.
So, what you have said does not hold with what has been discussed or recommended by West or others on this thread.
Afghan soldiers have been turning on and killing allied troops the entire time. I would expect them to use that as an excuse, but if they are militant Islamics, their own core beliefs given them all the excuse they desire and they use it all the time.
IMHO, we should go into a place like Afghanistan, land locked and wih no real natural interests for the US, and wage unrestricted and complete war against the Taliban and Islamic Jihadists (like Al Quida) when they attack us, or provide refuge to thsoe who do, and anyone who supports them. Lay them waste...utterly, like we did the Nazis and Imperial Japanese.
Kill them and their leadership without relenting and without excuse.
Then, when we have done so and destroyed their ability to wage war against us away from their hell-hole, withdraw and let them know that if they come out of their hole again and try it again, we’ll be back to double down and do the same in spades.
But that’s just my opinion. Clearly there are a lot of Afghans who are fighting and dieing beside our troops against these people so they can have some measure of freedom. They are going to have to get to the point where they outnumber and defeat their own enemeies themselves...if we can help them do that...fine...otherwise, revert to the scenario I just outlined.
