This whole attack Newt thing is not sitting well with me. I feel like if everyone in the old GOP is against Newt, I should be supporting him. I do want someone to BRING IT to the statists.

I hear you, but I think we would be okay with Newt as president.
He can be ‘out there’ but basically he’s intelligent and conservative.
And if we can support him with more conservatives in the congress, including taking control of the Senate, I think he’ll be fine.
So let’s see, you are afraid of Newt, but not Mr. Romney or President Obama. Hmmm, I dont get it.

I felt the same. Until the townhall Newt did. Something I posted yesterday:
“Newt understands the heart and soul of America.
The USA IS exceptional. A risky experiment in democracy and decency by brave and educated founders who trusted the people, it not only survived, but thrived. Dared to not only dream, but act on those dreams and pull the rest of the world along with them.
Mr. Gingrich gets that. Then he articulates it and makes it new and exciting again.”
My own little island ruled half the planet for a reasonable while - because we believed we were exceptional (and wanted to get away from our miserable weather!) We were also the only empire in history that broke up without too much warfare.
America doesn’t want to rule the planet - I get that. But to stay true to itself, it needs to get back to it’s roots. Be honest - that is what you are fighting for and the person you need as your head of state should be one who is proud to be American. Proud of his or her country and countrymen. Palin has that. Perry has that. Gingrich has that.
I don’t care about past sins. Sins and transgressions can be forgiven, and if God forgives, which he does, I must do no less.
