(1996 Presidential Candidate Loser) Bob Dole Has Dagger Out For Newt Gingrich Run
abc ^ | 1/26/2012 | By Matt Negrin

Bob Dole, the 1996 GOP Republican presidential nominee, unleashed an attack on Newt Gingrich today, saying not only is he unsuited to be president, he’ll crush the party’s candidates at the state and local levels.

“Gingrich had a new idea every minute and most of them were off the wall,” Dole said in a statement published by National Review.

Dole was a senator from 1969 to 1996, overlapping with some of Gingrich’s time as speaker of the House. In his statement, Dole said he’s decided to speak out against Gingrich “before it is too late” and Republicans nominate someone who “will have an adverse impact on Republican candidates” running for local office.

“Newt would show up at the campaign headquarters with an empty bucket in his hand — that was a symbol of some sort for him — and I never did know what he was doing or why he was doing it, and I’m not certain he knew either,” Dole said.

Dole said he’s decided to speak out against Gingrich “before it is too late”

If Gingrich didn't pay him to do this, he should have.

Dole wanted to be the candidate in the worst way ... and he succeeded.

Worse than the pre-Palin John McCain?

Running with Dole kind of ruined Jack Kemp's career. He mighta been a contender ...

I always take my political advice from people who could only garner 41% of the vote.

Bob Dole is a vile Serbophobe who is owned by the Croat lobby, and kisses up to Kosovo Albanian savages.

And he was a BIG help in getting clinton his second term. clinton of course carried out Dole’s entire foreign policy program, especially in Southeastern Europe.

‘Nuf said!!!!

Bob must be suffering from that side effect where he has an erection lasting more than 4 hours.

Dole was a drag on the ‘76 ticket with that RINO Gerald Ford, and 20 years later when it was allegedly “his turn”, we all know how that turned out.

At 88 years of age, Dole needs to just gracefully STFU.

I didn’t realize Dole was stil alive.

He's up there in age though.

Once he goes, rigor mortis will be the hardest he's been in 20 years.

I think McCain has been suffering from serious mental deterioration, like poor Admiral Stockdale when he had his unfortunate venture into politics.

We really could use candidates who aren’t a zillion years old ...

Gosh, can they be any more obvious?
Mr. Dole, we didn't win with you.
Seemed like a nice fellow though this is a true sell-out.
Shame.

Newt once called Dole the “tax collector for the welfare state.” That left a mark. Dole, like McConnell, Lott and Frist were always trying to undercut the conservatives.

Remember when Dole was in the presidential primaries and he said loudly, when asked why he thought people should vote for him : "IT'S MY TIME."?

He obviously has the same attitude now, thinking it's his time to be 'king maker'.

And, by the way, I have a feeling he never came close to having to 'call his doctor' after being 'up' and 'lasting for more than 6 hours'. >>> Viagra alert <<<

Does Bob Dole still talk about Bob Dole in the third person?

I kinda think the idea of Bob Dole and Bob Doles’ wife helping run up a 16 trillion dollar national debt over a 40 year time span, is an idea that is “off the wall”.

Good call. However, I think anyone under 40 who sees this "news" will be thinking, "Bob Who?"
