There's no gentle way to put it: People who give in to racism and prejudice may simply be dumb, according to a new study that is bound to stir public controversy.

The research finds that children with low intelligence are more likely to hold prejudiced attitudes as adults. These findings point to a vicious cycle, according to lead researcher Gordon Hodson, a psychologist at Brock University in Ontario. Low-intelligence adults tend to gravitate toward socially conservative ideologies, the study found. Those ideologies, in turn, stress hierarchy and resistance to change, attitudes that can contribute to prejudice.......

Another one of these "scientific" studies. I'm sure it's completely unbiased and withstood the rigorous peer review process. Ain't science grand!

Note their definition of conservative: Conservatives “stress hierarchy and resistance to change.”

Classic propaganda: Simply redefine your opponent’s beliefs. Then attack those beliefs.

If conservatives truly “stress hierarchy and resistance to change,” I should be able to assign the inverse definition to the inverse label: Liberals stress disorder and lawlessness.

Actually it makes perfect sense.

Those who are prejudiced against Conservatives have low IQ’s.

This definition fits libs. They stress their hierarchy and are totally resistant to changing their views. To them compromise is when everything goes their way.

Guess this proves what I have always known. Libs are intellectually challenged to the point that they have no moral rudders and cannot live in the real world. Instead, they daydream of their ideal Utopia where all is fair according to their preconceived ideas of fairness.

A pox on all of them.

Most recently, my research addresses the contextual and personality factors involved in the attenuation of intergroup conflict, such as encouraging common ingroup categorization and identification. Specifically, I am testing the benefits of increasing positive intergroup contact and using intergroup friendships to reduce bias in a variety of settings.

James Taranto, author of "The Best of the Web" column for the Wall St. Journal had a brilliant comment about this "study" today:

So IQ tests are racist, except when they're used to "prove" that people with "socially conservative ideologies" are racist and intellectually inferior.

Game, set, match.

Those ideologies, in turn, stress hierarchy and resistance to change...

Ideologies, IOW, like union-supportive statism (often referred to by outmoded and inaccurate words like "liberalism" or "progressivism"), which rejects the dynamics of markets in favor of the superficially comforting stasis of government planning.
