No Need to Panic About Global Warming
Wall Street Journal ^ | January 27, 2012 | 16 Scietists

Posted on 01/27/2012 3:28:30 AM PST by Brad from Tennessee

Editor's Note: The following has been signed by the 16 scientists listed at the end of the article:

A candidate for public office in any contemporary democracy may have to consider what, if anything, to do about "global warming." Candidates should understand that the oft-repeated claim that nearly all scientists demand that something dramatic be done to stop global warming is not true. In fact, a large and growing number of distinguished scientists and engineers do not agree that drastic actions on global warming are needed. . .

Perhaps the most inconvenient fact is the lack of global warming for well over 10 years now. This is known to the warming establishment, as one can see from the 2009 "Climategate" email of climate scientist Kevin Trenberth: "The fact is that we can't account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't." But the warming is only missing if one believes computer models where so-called feedbacks involving water vapor and clouds greatly amplify the small effect of CO2. . .

Alarmism over climate is of great benefit to many, providing government funding for academic research and a reason for government bureaucracies to grow. Alarmism also offers an excuse for governments to raise taxes, taxpayer-funded subsidies for businesses that understand how to work the political system, and a lure for big donations to charitable foundations promising to save the planet. . .

The scientific community is funded by governments, so.....being coersed, threatened with defunding or going along for the sheckles is understandable. It didn’t work, now you have to find your credibility

Actually, there is a reason to panic! The so called scientists that are looking for a handout are pushing full scale for more money. That means that they have to continue to promote Global Warming, Global Cooling, Global Change for all their worth if they want more money.

So you, the poor peasant that is supporting this effort had better understand what is going on if you want to reduce your taxes. These folks are going to convince you that they need your money to continue their efforts or otherwise, the world is going to come to an end...

In 2025, or 2049, or 2050, or 2656, or whenever they decide...... (really when they finally get enough money - which is never)...

Ask the people of NE Japan whether the planet needs us to save it or not.

I wish it was that benign. Once energy units becomes the new "currency" (to save the planet) a parasitic with-holdings organization can control every aspect of everything about every private, commercial and governmental activity for every country in the world.

Control energy and you control the world.

All controls will be effective PRIOR to all verbiage in every constitution and founding document for every country in the world. If the FLOW of energy sources is controlled PRIOR to their being taxed, or they even become present in a country, (parasitic) then you can make all the laws and constitutions you want. But without energy, you exist on a cold rock (if they secret energy commission permits such a rock's temperature without taxing you or forcing some subservient behaviors as payment for it)

Great article, thanks for posting it.

I never read responses at news articles, but I found this one interesting because of the tone it presented...typical libtard:

"...So, once again, another brilliant climate denial piece... with all the loser pathetic pile-on of ignoramuses that pretty much read the WSJ now (and those of us gullibly led to these articles by Google)

1. The man who owns all y'all has quite the different view from his silly little rag sheet http://www.newscorp.com/news/news_478.html

2. The WSJ has refused to print any refutations from prominent scientists to these regular "op-eds" that all you pathetic losers sign up to agree on ... losers

3. I actually know at least one of the academics cited in this lame piece, and I am certain he is aghast at how his work is being despicably misquoted and celebrated by you nothings

Hahaha...the dimwit name dropper (non-name dropper says "I actually know at least one of the academics...") probably "knew" Trofim Lysenko who was referenced in the article...

When the author mentioned this: "...Faced with this embarrassment, those promoting alarm have shifted their drumbeat from warming to weather extremes, to enable anything unusual that happens in our chaotic climate to be ascribed to CO2..." it made me think of this list, which is hilarious:

In the comments after the article, someone posted a link to a speech by Michael Crighton of Jurassic Park fame. It was well worth the 15 minutes of my life. It is entitled, “Aliens Cause Global Warming”.

Cui Bono? I recall that Giordana Bruno was burned at the stake in 1600 for questioning the “incontrovertible” orthodoxies of his day. Perhaps the 16 scientists who’ve signed this letter should also be burned for questioning if Global Warming is burning the rest of us....

From President Eisenhowers Farewell Address, right after the oft quoted part about the military-industrial complex:

“Akin to, and largely responsible for the sweeping changes in our industrial-military posture, has been the technological revolution during recent decades. In this revolution, research has become central; it also becomes more formalized, complex, and costly. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government.

Today, the solitary inventor, tinkering in his shop, has been overshadowed by task forces of scientists in laboratories and testing fields. In the same fashion, the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers. The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present — and is gravely to be regarded.

Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.”

All I know is, a lot of people in Michigan keep their homes as cold as they can stand it and don’t have homes and heated pool like Algore. Screw him.

I want to hear a Presidential debate over whether President Eisenhower would agree that his own words are relevant to today’s so-called science(s) of climate change and global warming. He was in office at the time of the creation of NASA.

IMO, the very nature of NASA has been polluted by scientific studies of climate change and global warming. It’s agenda has been taken off track to the extent that the current version of NASA adequately supports Eisenhower’s theory.

What does a Tsunami have to do with the global warming hoax?

Let me know when you’ve learned how government action can protect you from a 9.0 earthquake.

“Let me know when you’ve learned how government action can protect you from a 9.0 earthquake.”

From what I’ve seen, the government can only err on the side of caution and as far as I’m concerned, that’s just not good enough.
