They have all sorts of ways to get cash with those cards.
I unfortunately need to drive through real bad sections of Hartford, CT on occasion and you would not believe all the convenience stores stacked up on the streets - tons of them - right next door to each other - all accepting EBT.
They are money launderers
Exactly.
But the latest is that the gov. of MA wants to tax soda now.
(or, tax it higher)
They already tax things like cigarettes—sin taxes—well if they’re so bad, why aren’t they illegal? Because they need
tax revenues, that’s why. Interestingly enough some schools,
etc have gotten rid of soda machines—but horrors! That would take badly needed tax money away from the state!
I think EBT cards could be used to buy ciggies and booze
but I think due to public outcry it was stopped.
Oh and one other thing: now they want to get rid of booze ads on the Metro Boston Transit Authority. It’s bad for you,
you know. But that deprives them of revenue...
If it were up to me I’d keep the booze ads up on the “T” (there are already public service announcements about the
dangers of drinking). Let THAT help to finance it. While we’re at it, NPR and PBS should be allowed to run ads.
_Better that than taxpayer money_. Am I right?
Well, born in Lynn but grew up in Nahant. Classical (Rams)
of course face English (Bulldogs) in a yearly tilt at what is now Manning Field (was Manning Bowl but it got torn down).
East Lynn: English. West Lynn: Classical. There’s also
St Mary’s (pariochial; oldest brother went there) and Lynn
Tech (one of my other brothers went there).
I grew up in Nahant and could choose between Classical and English. My dad, mother, sister and one brother had gone to
Classical so I chose that. (The brother had originally
gone to St Mary’s but left after 1 year. Couldn’t stand
the strict nuns.)
