Fast forward to today and we suddenly find that an interesting situation has arisen in the Untied States in regards to ACTA. It seems that President signed the ACTA treaty a few months ago, with apparently little or no fanfare, but questions are now being asked by those who do keep a very close eye on this – was Obama even allowed to sign ACTA?

“However the question is now before us .. did President Obama knowingly and intentionally sidestep the US Congress in order to placate the entertainment industry;”

It’s so obvious, why bother framing it as a question?

Senate approval is no longer required for a treaty to have effect, the Constitution (tragically) notwithstanding.

Presidents are allowed to sign treaties; no problem with that. However, such treaty will not become the Supreme Law of the Land, and will not be enforceable in the U.S., unless and until it is ratified by 2/3 of the Senate pursuant to Article II, section 2, clause 2 of the Constitution. So all it takes is 34 Senators to stop the treaty from going into effect.

Obama could circumvent the 2/3 requirement by submitting it to Congress not as a treaty, but as an “agreement,: in which case it would require a simple majority vote from each house. However, the GOP has a comfortable majority in the House, and there’s no way the House would vote in favor of such an agreement; and 41 Republicans would be able to filibuster the agreement in the Senate.

This ACTA is worse than SOPA. It forces ISPS to monitor all of our online activities to see if we are accessing any sites they don't want us to. This , like SOPA, will cripple and break the Internet.

Europe is about to ratify.

How long do we have to use the Internet? Not long I'd say and say goodbye to freerepublic also

And this Obama and other countries have been doing this ACTA in secret. Of course the media has been hiding this ACTA from the public. NAFTA,China trade agreement, and the other trade agreements were meant to destroy U.S.A sovreignity and U.S. economy . this ACTA will destroy the Internet and our freedom.

If you’re in the web community
You’d better watch your back.
Your freedoms (speech, privacy and commerce)
Are coming under attack.

It’s not some foreign stranger
plotting against rights and liberty,
But our own family, Uncle Sam, Dear Leader.
Oppression, not protection, has become his specialty.

Christians forced to forsake their faith, close the door.
FEMA camps, military exercises, just for our own good!
TSA search and seizure, need I mention any more?
www dot com: the free frontier. Save it! Oh, if we could!
