PRINCETON, NJ -- Republican registered voters nationally continue to prefer Newt Gingrich over Mitt Romney for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination, with no sign in Gallup Daily tracking from Jan. 22-26 that Gingrich is giving back any of his recent gains. The 32% of Republican voters now choosing Gingrich as the candidate they are most likely to support for the nomination is his highest level of support since the 2012 primary voting began in early January. The 24% supporting Romney is his lowest.

Despite the heavy media focus on the two front-runners, Ron Paul and Rick Santorum are each holding their own at just under 15%, putting the two men in a statistical tie for third.

Bottom Line…

This despite the onslaught, or perhaps because of it?

Boy, I’ve seen two reports that say Romney’s retaken the lead from Gingrich. Anybody got some reconciled numbers and facts?

Last I heard, Romney leads in FL, Gingrich leads nationally.

I’ve never seen such an open and blatant hit job against a Republican in my life and it not come from the left. Personally it made me more determined than ever to defeat Romney and support Newt. My real first choice was always Palin then Cain and now Newt. The elite in the party are very clear who they are supporting. They want Romney so they can claim the Tea Party is dead and move the Party back toward the middle just as Conservative self id is at the highest ever. They are more afraid of the Tea Party than they are of Obama. They see the Tea Party as more of a problem than Obama.

I think Gingrich needs to win FL. Tomorrow never comes, so to speak.

Means nothing. Gingrich loses Florida, game over. Drudge destroyed Gingrich in a 24 hr period.

The morons of the RINO Establishment elites have declared war on the TEA Party and conservatives by trying to ram Mittens down our throats. They tried the same thing with Reagan.

Make no mistake: This is a war the TEA Party and conservatives must fight against the RINO and Donkey Establishment elites that are aided and abetted by the Mainstream Media. This is a war the TEA Party and conservatives must win to save this country.

Anyone who hasn't figured this out hasn't been paying attention. Santorum needs to drop out and throw his support to Newt. He can be rewarded with an important job in the Newt administration dismantling the Federal Leviathan.

The assault was planned, coordinated and timed. It was a blitz; a barrage of artillery fire from all directions with maximum force. Now as the smoke clears we find Newt at the same place in Florida where he was before winning SC. And you are right. I have never ever seen anything like it either. The party taking out one of its own, one time revered leader in one of the most viscous attacks, something they would never do to the other side. Makes me sick to my stomach.

Master Gunner you are absolutely on target.

“Santorum needs to drop out and throw his support to Newt.”

Will Santorum do the right thing??
I used to go to Drudge - I felt an et tu? moment and felt the stab in the back...

I'm depressed over the FL Primary. Our boy Newt really blew it in the Debate last night. I can't believe he did so poorly. It will take a miracle for him to pull-out a win in Florida.

I think they actually believe that once they get their man nominated, we will all form a line behind him. They are very, very wrong.

I think Mitt did not look very presidential picking and picking at Newt. Especially after Newt wanted to call a truce.

Not a good temperment for a president.

Ever so correct my friend!
"Personally it made me more determined than ever to defeat Romney and support Newt…"
My point exactly. No thinking person wants to hear this crap, the GOP telling you how / when / where / why to vote.
It blows up in their faces.

Floridians can think for themselves, AKA Rubio/West Syndrome.
Get jacked, Newt will take Florida. Jeb will see to it (HAHAHHA!!!)
