Not possible. And not deserved. Matt Drudge is the best thing to happen to the news in my lifetime. He changed everything and shattered the left’s ability to control the narrative. We owe him a debt of gratitude, not boycotts and rehashed gay smears from David Brock.

Besides, every one of those stories yesterday had a source. It was a coordinated dump of monumental proportions. Drudge would lose credibility is he were to pretend it wasn’t happening. He’s had Lords’ piece up all day and he gave Palin’s response the red-letter treatment. He reports, we decide. The way it should be. No way I’m bailing on him now.

Drudge would lose credibility is he were to pretend it wasn’t happening.

You mean the way he has pretended that Fast and Furious didn't happen by posting one story for less than a half hour then pulling it completely in a year that had hundreds of articles published about it? Like that?

Drudge gets 30 million hits daily —more than the daily traffic of every major US daily, combined.

DC political consultants all check his page 10 times or more daily —because his simple act of linking to a story ASSURES that the story WILL be talked about, it WILL become the “real” news, even if it wasn’t.

The ONE man driving news in the USA is Matt Drudge, a former gift-shop clerk, a man who never went to college.

I’ve had many disagreements with his coverage —and recently a major chronic one— but:

THE MAN GAVE US A SHOT —maaaaany dedicated freeps found FR via his link.

Do you all think that WE haven’t done stuff that has sometimes embarrassed him? Yes, there has been stuff like that, over the years, and at several junctures he’s been taken to task over his willing association with us (a couple times we were even un-linked).

But he hasn’t shunned us, and he’s provided really great material.

Did you know Drudge came in person to the FreeRepublic March for Justice?

That was when Clinton and his goons were seriously talking about us as terrorists...! But still Matt showed up..!

The man has GUTS.

It’s OK to disagree with him —he would understand that. He would understand even if there were HUGE disagreements.

But BOYCOTTING him? Oh, please.

Besides with the MSM being what it is, you’ll all be back licking up his material in a week...

You are missing the point. If everybody on Free Republic and their friends and family boycotted, we couldn’t and shouldn’t shut down Drudge. The point is gaining a little respect, a little show of power that will make Drudge think twice next time before he posts dirt on conservatives. It is a message, not an eviction notice. He needs to get that message, and so do lots of others in the conservative media and establishment, who take tea party types for granted because they think we have nowhere else to go, or they think we are all rubes...

And yet he has posted next to nothing of all the factual articles where Mitt Romney and his liberalism is concerned this whole election cycle.

Complete context is king, my FRiend.
