In Pennsylvania bail is set only to guarentee appearance in court. Except in capital murder cases the defendant is entitled to bail.

Just as a comparison, a Philly high school baseball coach charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy, was ordered held on $2 million bail a few months before Sandusky was arrested.

Let me make it clear...that was for ONE victim, which earned the accused a $2 million bail. Several counts , but nowhere near the 52 counts against Sandusky for TEN alleged victims, over a 15 year period. Sandusky got about $4800 per count against him. This is why I think his bail was set extraordinarily low.

Oh, and amazingly, a month later the high school baseball coach was still in jail, since he hadn't come up with the bail at that point.

Coach remains jailed on $2 million bail

What a shame that he wasn't connected to the social elites in Philly like Sandusky is, or else his bail could've been reduced to something more "reasonable". You know, so he would show up at his court dates.
