Perdue to stump for NC education

North Carolina’s governor may not be running for re-election but she intends to actively campaign statewide in 2012 for education funding.
“This is personal,” Gov. Bev Perdue said in New Bern Saturday. “This is about the future of North Carolina and I intend to lead the fight.
“I care so deeply about kids and their future. I am going to go all over the state. I am going to use the bully pulpit. I am going to call out all North Carolinians and, at the end of the day, the people are going to decide if they care about this state the way millions have cared before,” Perdue said.
North Carolina’s first female governor announced Thursday she would not seek a second term in a statement she said Saturday in a Sun Journal interview “speaks for itself.”
She said she debated the pros and cons of that decision “for about three months. I decided Wednesday.”
In short, the statement says she will take partisan politics out of the battle to fund state education.
Perdue recently proposed adding a penny to the state’s 4.75-cent sales tax rate to help generate $800 million plus for education. The Republican controlled General Assembly had allowed a 2009 temporary penny tax to expire last summer.

"There is something fundamentally wrong,” she said. “I’m tired of it. I’m going to fight it. I’m going to take it to every community in the state. We are going to force people during an election season to have this discussion."
And a judge will force her to serve out a prison term.
I really think she needs to be IQ tested to see if she qualifies for - um - “special” accommodations.
I care so deeply about the continued support of the Educationalistical Establishment for the Democrat Party.
She really is as dumb as she seems to be - and “too dumb to be a Democrat governor” is really, really dumb.
Her statement s merely a face saving ploy to get invited to lunch at the state universities.
She was...... she will not be.
I think we can rule out giving her “extended time”...

Well if they would state the fact that the "just add a penny" is really a 21% increase the people would go nutz.
I'm going to increase your sales taxes 21% or I'm axing just one penny contribution to the poor school chilrun, what kind of lout could turn that down.
