At 10:20 in, Romney thinks he's no longer being recorded and gradually flies off the handle in an off-air conversation with the host. Here you can see the true temper behind the corporate raiding "buyout baron." The link will open the video at exactly the right moment, no need to use the slider.
I recall another freeper said he/she had a friend who worked for Mitt Romney once and said he was the meanest man she'd ever met. Please reply to confirm the details of that if the freeper who wrote that several weeks ago is reading this.
I have one important question. Just why does Romney want to be president? He sure doesn’t need the money. Is it for prestige, or to avenge his dad’s failure to become president?
Whatever his motive, I’m sure it isn’t for the good of the American public. He appears so plastic and even his smile is fake. He gives me the heebie jeebies!
I am no Mittbot, but I didn’t hear a meltdown at all. I did hear two people talking past each other. The radio announcer was annoying and frankly pretentious in trying to tell Romney how he should represent the views of his church, bizarre as they may seem to the rest of us. I could hear what points both of them were making and could also hear that both of them were missing each other’s points. A few times in my life I’ve met people who truly did not understand what I was saying and I truly didn’t understand what they were saying, and we just kept saying the same thing over and over. That was what seemed to be going on here.
What he said was, “unbeknownst to me, there was a hidden camera in the room.”
Now, whatever, say what you want about Mr. Romney, but that just isn’t true. (huge camera, plus camera guy, etc)
Jan Mickelson is an excellent radio host and sharp as a tack, and he did not, and does not, appreciate outright falshoods like that.
The video really doesn’t hurt Romney, just a bit of an animated discussion between 2 folks pressed for time.
Although until I watched it, I didn’t realize that the Mormon faith was indifferent to the pro-life issue.
While I wouldn't even come close to calling this an example of a meltdown, it sure hints at what would happen if Romney was asked, on live camera, about the Celestial Wives and Planet Golob, getting a planet all to himself when he dies, etc. beliefs of Mormonism.
He would catch fire and blow up. Spectacularly and decisively.
GOOD WORK reviving this video (I guess it came from 2008), JedJo. Considering who the guy is, and who he was talking to, it reveals to me a guy who is on the EDGE of victicrat mindset -- "attacking my religion." He is high-strung and defensive. Okay in a regular Joe, but BAD NEWS in a guy who seeks to be the Leader of the Free World. Romney growls with a smile and is a civil bully (you can see the radio guy is very shaken), but Romney would be as brittle as a snarling chihuahua on the World stage.
Romney is bad news for America and for the GOP. BAD NEWS. Piss on Mitt Romney.
GODSPEED NEWT GINGRICH.
Really...you must have watched a different video. He was far more aggressive in the last debate then he was in this video.
But thank you for the link because I found a fantastic interview with Rick Santorum from that same radio station and after listening to that it has solidified my vote in FL this week!!!
I think the exact exchange you’re describing did not happen on air.
Mickelson, in 2007 when this happened, was predisposed to PROMOTING Romney over McCain, not trash him. (Thus the references to Skousen).

Mickelson was surprised that Romney took offense, and was bemused by the situation getting hostile.
I know the Iowans in that studio and I have used that clunky old vidcam.
Meltdown? COME ON... if you have to label people’s passion in negative terms, you poison the waters of discourse, and you have an agenda. Mitt is not reliable in terms of “what he has to say to get elected”, and for that reason alone, most conservatives will feel twice as queasy voting for him than for Newt... but to label that video episode of Mitt as having a meltdown, is just plain intellectually dishonest.
I know have more respect for Mitt after watching that. Was that your intention? I especially liked how he passionately defended his religion.
I would rather have a observant (Jew, Catholic, Baptist, Mormon, Jehovah’s Witness etc.) in office which I disagree with theologically than the Atheist/Communist that we have in office now. What I am saying is I have respect for people of Faith who practice that faith in their lives (even if I don’t share their religious beliefs).
these things are ridiculous, you have just as many people telling Gingrich stories of the same type of behavior. Do you really believe anyone doesn’t have this side? Don’t get sideways on what to battle Mitt on, these little side show things lose focus to the issues that you can truly attack him on from a conservative standpoint. When you start going down this hole, you aren’t differentiating from Newt who has a habit of being an ass to plenty of people as well (just like Clinton, Obama, Gore et all) stay on issues!
There are a lot of misleading posts and headlines flying around lately. One earlier this evening was even pulled because it was an outright misrepresentation of what was actually said at a rally.
You completely miss-characterized this clip.
You know, Mitt reminds me of my late father. Never a hair out of place, and nice as pie to your face.
But turn your back on him and he’d stab you and keep turning it as long as you couldn’t see his face.
So Romney says he is “Pro-Choice” but that he is personally opposed to abortion.
Fascinating exchange.
I think Romney handled himself very well. I also think he explained the difference between his religion and his secular opinions very well--especially the examples he gave of alcohol and extramarital sex.
I am not a Morman and have no connection whatsoever with the Morman religion.
I also don't think Romney was rude or mean tempered. I think he was exasperated with the host, who seemed to be deliberately provocative, which is not exactly a criticism but which did apparently get tiresome to Romney.
I don't see anything in this interview to criticize in Romney.
BTW--I'm an Episcopalian, and I'm pulling for Gingrich.
Romney was haranged, not a good interview..
I don’t like Romney or any moderate...
Attacking him this issue is not a good issue..
There are many more better issues.. for attack..
“But George Stepinitopolis said Mormon doctrine was this” Romney says that he (Romney) knows more about the Mormon faith than Jerk radio guy does and it's this. “I was a grand poo-baa in the Mormon church and I should know”. I wear the magic underpants too, wanna see?
Big deal...
I believe that if I die Jesus is going to personally walk me through the gates of heaven.
If Jesus returns before I die I personally believe he will come to my home and be like “Yo, RC51! Good work keeping it real; but ya gotta stop masturbating - ya that right, I know about it.”
If Romney believes Jesus got love for Missouri, I’m cool with that. They are the “Show Me” State after all.
