Family says teen didn't have to die (Yes he did.....society is better off)

It all happened last Wednesday. Prosecutors say Johnson, who was already on probation for aggravated assault, robbed two men in West Reading and was attempting to rob a third along a bike path in Cumru Township in Berks County. But the would-be victim was carrying a licensed firearm, and shot two of his attackers. Johnson was killed. A friend is now in the hospital.

Johnson's mother, Idella Hopkins George, said, "Do I believe he was justified in shooting my son? I would say no."

The family acknowledges Johnson's actions were wrong, but they question why a warning shot couldn't have been fired first.

Johnson's sister, Ashley Jones, said, "He's a kid. His actions-- I don't approve of his actions at all, but he didn't deserve to have his life taken."

In recent days a Facebook memorial page has been flooded with sometimes hateful posts -- referring to Johnson as a "thug" who died like the dog he was.

Everyone processes things differently.

True.

You, for example, have not yet processed the fact that Lyndon Butthead Johnson's "Great Society" made marriage undesirable for people in certain demographic groups.

The good thing about this story is that
the perpetrator died and the victim lived.

Why do you think that I don’t know about LBJ? Could it be because snark is easier than a civil truthful conversation?

Everyone processes things differently.

Yeah, and many of them "process" it wrong.

Like you.

Thanks for the info, but what is the source? I know that Blacks have a lower rate, but it still doesn’t mean that she wasn’t.

Because you show no sign of being aware that LBJ and his “Great Society” for all intents and purposes destroyed the Black family.

There is a difference between feeling joy in the demise of this person, and feeling anger at the waste, but no regret.

That family should feel shame, and they don’t. To them, it isn’t the fault of their brother or son, that he was shot by someone while he attempted to assault them, but is instead the result of an unjust person who used more force than he should have.

One of the real problems we have in our society is that we view people who are judgmental as somehow flawed, and that there is something wrong with being judgmental. There is nothing wrong with being judgmental. Liberals like to say things like “You have no right to judge others, you have your own flaws...” and while that is certainly true, that truth does not bar me from passing judgement on this dead teenager. I have my flaws, but I haven’t assaulted and robbed people. So, people SHOULD pass judgment on this person.

As for his family, I take no joy in their grief, none whatsoever. But the fact that I don’t feel happy they are in pain doesn’t in any way invalidate my judgment that they are wrong, Wrong, WRONG to think there was ANYTHING “wrong” about his death and to suggest this man defending himself should have done otherwise.

I would have no issue if they said “I am sad my son/brother is dead, but that man did what he had to do to defend himself. It isn’t his fault.”

But that isn’t what they are saying. It is shameful.

So, you and I agree, it IS sad that this person chose the path of crime that he did, but I agree with another poster on this thread that they are shedding tears for their unjustly killed son/brother, but are unlikely to have shed any tears for the multiple people who have been hurt or injured by this feral teen who is part of their family. That is just background noise on the evening news to them.

She condemned his actions. So did the mother. But if this was you, who would you be most upset about? Someone you knew for many years, or a stranger? Just because it wasn’t shown on camera, didn’t mean it wasn’t said. There is alot that gets left on the cutting room floor.

Let’s see, third robbery attempt that day, aggravated assault on record, kid was out of control - it’s too bad that a 16 year old is killed, but he certainly got what could have been expected given the life he was leading. He was either gonna kill someone or someone was gonna kill him.

All these black thug racist mobs should be shot. Do Americans really enjoy reliving the history of the Democrat Party’s new race hate game with their new and improved KKK with a tan?

Americans were afraid of the Democrat Party’s KKK but many despised the KKK. They did not hesitate to harm “race traitors” like they did blacks. Racists, no matter their hate rationalizations, color schemes and position in society, should be shunned and side lined. Who the heck needs this to continue in our country so the limo liberals Rinos, the Democrats and Unions can have power?

Maybe he could have just shot him in the leg, like in Lethal Weapon.

Oh, I forgot, this wasn't a Hollywood movie.
