I am reading a lot of (justifiable) condemnation of the perp, but I am not seeing sympathy for the guy that had to pull the trigger.

When you decide to carry a weapon you need to know that if you need to pull it then you need to be willing to end a life and live with the consequences. Maybe this guy will not have nightmares or cold sweats, but his friends and family will never look at him the same way again.

Yes he did the right thing absolutely beyond the shadow of a doubt, but when you end someone elses life you also significantly change your own.

Thank you. I feel the same way for the bus driver whom a suicide jumps in front of, or the cop who has to shoot a perp. This is real life with real people.
