The ownership of the fabled Kennedy home at the family’s Hyannis Port compound is being transferred to the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate, a move that brings to an end the family’s 84-year ownership of the 21-room house. The Institute announced this afternoon it had taken over the waterfront homestead and will use it as a study center. It said the transfer ‘’fulfills a promise made by Senator Kennedy to his mother Rose that the home be preserved for charitable use.’’ The $5.5 million property is the centerpiece of the compound, where some of the nation’s most dramatic modern political history took place. The compound also includes other Kennedy homes, including former President John F. Kennedy’s house, which will remain in the family.

Not only are we paying for a museum in Boston, now we'll be paying for upkeep for the compound. I think the house is falling apart so I bet we pay for that too.Read article for the details.

But in the fine-print, the agreement specifies that Kennedy men will still maintain exclusive rights to rape women on the premises.

I’m not sure how to respond to this thread!

My disgust quotient is almost up to the bile level in my throat: Yet I’m sure that Patches needs a place to live with his new squeeze, probably in the third floor apartment of this now monument.

Sure hope that all the renovation hammers don’t disturb Patches’ sleep, or maybe he just needs to take a few more pills before hitting the afternoon beach!

I think the Institute should allow the HOMELESS to move in and homestead the place. After all, didn’t The Swimmer say we should Save the Homeless as well as Saving the Whales ? Or, was it that we should Save the Whores ?

What could be more fabulous than a Kennedy museum on Hyannis with its very own rape room? < / sarcasm >

Rapist, drunkerds, rum and hootch runners, and homicides does not qualify as dramatic modern political history. Loosers in the Kenedy clan.

Tax free, but the Kennedys are still allowed to live there—what a hoot! FDR did the same thing with his Hyde Park mansion—make it a donation, but allow his family to still live there.

I see they finally unloaded Bobby's place, Hickory Hill, after being on the market for years. Got about a third of the asking price a few years ago. Cashing out the old real estate. Guess Old Man Joe's fortune has about been tapped out. Whattashame. Whattafamily. not.

"Guess Old Man Joe's fortune has about been tapped out."

They don't need that old money, they live on taxpayer money now. For example, Robert Kennedy, Jr., recently got a $1.4 billion Solyndra-type bailout for his "green" company, BrightSource.
