Santorum has showed his true character. Politics and power before family and child.

He could not effectively campaign in FL because his young daughter was very ill.

Yes. And his daughter will not be cured. She will be fragile as long as she lives.

I can't imagine what possessed him to run for President now, with long grueling hours and days away from home and family, when any day can bring another medical emergency for his daughter.

Santorum has snubbed Florida and snubbed his family by going to Las Vegas. Shame on him.

RIck Santorum needs to stay in the race to go after Romney for Romneycare. Gingrich sure can’t seem to do it. He stands there mouth wide open while Romney shocks him time after time. Gingrich then says that he can’t debate someone who lies to him......like Obama won’t. Wake up Gingrich. If you can’t win on your own merits than perhaps you should pack it up and endorse Rick. Yep I am for Newt but after his last debate I just am not 100 percent sure he could debate Obama unless it is totally a Gingrich audience. If there is more Obama audience there, it will startle Gingrich. We will see. Santorum is campaigning in Nevada while Gingrich has not started yet. This race will go into the Summer.

Santorum needs to get out and endorse Newt, or he causes Romney to be nominated

Wouldn’t it be the VOTERS who cause Romney to be nominated?

I know, I know, splitting the vote and all that mess. But this is the primaries, after 4 today out of how many do we really need this to be a 2 way race? I don’t even know why we have primaries anymore. Why don’t we just have 1 state vote and then that’s it... winner take all. Because that sure does seem to be the way it is. I’m in NC and our primary is in May... do you think I even have a choice at all?

As far as I’m concerned, we got McPain shoved down our throats last time around, I’m still wondering how that mess happened... and now here it goes again. Are you really so sure that if Santorum is out, that means more for Newt? Are you really so sure in a 2-man race that Newt will be the one on top? Wish I could be as confident as you, but I’m not. I think just the opposite... with Santorum out, the race goes to Mitt.

Team Romney $$$ or blackmail. Just like all the other inexplicable sellouts we've seen of late.

Rick lost his “paragon of virtue” chit when he sold out for Specter.

If I’m going to have to choose a candidate with questionable principles, I’m going to choose one who has proven to be good at beating my enemies.

Santorum needs to get out and endorse Newt, or he causes Romney to be nominated.

That has been touted for awhile now, but did Santorum take votes from Newt in Iowa (which Rick won)....no. Did Santorum take votes away from Newt in NH (which Rick beat him)....no. Did Santorum take votes away from Newt in SC? No....Newt won it significantly. So now we are in Florida and the results are not known and people are trying to use their crystal ball again. 4 states are not enough to worry about at this point. What if Rick starts winning the caucus’? Perhaps he might get the nomination. This thing will not be over until the Summer.

If my daughter had a genetic condition such as Santorum’s daughter, I would spend as much of the rest of her expected short life with her as possible. Shame on him.

First of all, every person could lose their child in a minute. We just had a car accident here in Annapolis MD that took the life of a 5, 8, and 12 year old. I guess those parents should not have worked and spent every minute with them until they died. Secondly, he has her on the campaign trail so it seems like he is spending time with her. Nobody got on Sarah when she was away from her child who has Downs and they don't live forever either. Hypocrisy here is nauseating.

Santorum left Florida to raise money. sadly his daughter then got sick.
Santorum then left his sick daughter to go to Missouri and Nevada, not return to Florida.
Santorum told ABC News Thursday afternoon he was not dropping out of the race, just focusing on better opportunities.
Your ill informed flame speaks for your own decency.

Your advice applies only if you think Newt should get the nomination.

I don't want Newt anywhere near the nomination; he'll go down in blazing ignominy.

Rick is the path to a brokered convention--Go Rick!!!

(For example, the Specter gambit.)

That is tired. Wow. One thing and he gets pounced on. Well maybe Santorum knew that Toomey was going to vote for fags in the military which he did. Arlen for as bad as he is did not vote for gays in the military. Toomey did! No criticism of Toomey? Doesn’t sound like a conservative to me.

I think there’s about a 98% chance that Romney will be the nominee.

He’ll take all the big northeast states, all the west coast states, many of the midwest states, and a couple of southwestern states. That just doesn’t leave much for anyone else.

I don’t see the point in chucking my principles for a fight we can’t win. I’m more concerned with removing Debbie Stabenow at this point and either forcing Obama to be a better president or forcing Romney to be a good one.

...."that only a couple of states are choosing our candidate are now demanding exactly that....As far as I’m concerned, if a candidate is to be chosen after only a couple of states, the states should call off their primaries. They could save some money and force a harsh look at reality.

I'm for Newt but understand Sanatorium remaining in the race....though I'd prefer seeing Newt win in Florida and he might do that regardless if Santroums in io not......I think Sanatorium has a purpose all around to remain longer than Florida....Newt said this isn't going to be the standard campaign....I say let him work it and that might just be keeping Sanatorium in for awhile longer....it's still early.

Well that is interesting. I saw her on TV the other night in her father’s arms while he was with supporters. Yes I am aware of her condition. She could die at any moment. You and I could too. Also she was supposed to have died about 3 months after birth and then 90 percent after age one and she is now 3. She is a fighter just like her father.

Santorum will pick off votes from Romney in states where Gingrich can’t win anyway.

Santorum is accusing other candidates of not being conservative but he has his warts from supporting RINO’s like Arlen Specter to supporting the debt increasing budget busting Medicare Part D program.

From what I know of him as a Pennsylvanian, he has always been a loyal supporter of the GOP Machine-Establishment.

My gut feeling has always been that he is a divider of conservative votes to help Romney win the nomination.

I would be glad to be proven wrong and apologize for what I have said, but nothing I have seen from Rick so far is leading me in that direction.

A vote for Santorum in Florida today will help kill Santorum’s own candidacy by allowing a Mitt Romney win that will cause the media to annoint Romney the Republican frontrunner or nominee.

It's too early to have just a two man race....as one poster said why have the primaries then. The media's pushing for this and I'm not going to follow their drumbeat.....I think Newt needs Sanatorium to stay in for awhile yet. There's so much at stake here and the opposition's going to get stronger....let Sanatorium take some of the flack down the road, for surely they will come after him in due time....that alone gives Newt some breathing room....he's going to need it.
