They refuse to allow the importation of the carbines, even though the manufacture, sale, possession, and use of that very model are all perfectly legal in the United States, and all of the rifles mentioned were manufactured in the United States.
As David Horowitz said, the issue is never the issue. The issue is always the "revolution".

Before I moved to my new home in Kentucky from Seattle, I went to a seattle range to do some test firing. It was surprisingly accurate without a scope at 100 yards. It came with a ten round magazine for $106. I bought it when I was concerned Clinton would ban guns. It was also legal to purchase a 20 round magazine for an extra $15, so I did.

Romney will ban every gun he can. His presidency will seal the fate of the 2nd Amendment, once again having the evil come from within our ranks.

Wait a sec. They allow the importation of the M1 Garand because it doesn’t have a magazine, but I got the following from here: http://www.minutemanreview.com/2008/09/clip-vs-magazine-lesson-in-firearm.html
“A magazine is what is used to feed the weapon itself, whereas a clip is used to feed the magazine. Clips make loading of magazines much easier and faster, and in some cases, a clip is required in order for the magazine to work (e.g. M1 Garand).”
So, which is it?

Are they afraid that these guns might end up in the hands of Mexican drug gangs? Then let Americans buy them and keep them away from either the BATFE or the Justice Department. And what is the point of disallowing rifles with magazines? All of my semi-autos have them. Maybe I need to buy more.

10 and 20 round magazines for the Carbine must be special.
All I’ve ever had were 15 and 30.
To: Dogbert41
No President can ban guns: only Congress can make laws and the Supreme Court has made it very clear that their authority is severely constrained by the 2nd Amendment. States can regulate firearms, but only up to a point. It doesn’t really matter though, because we’re not going to surrender them voluntarily anyway.

Stay Focused!
I believe that the discussion is on the M1 Carbine.

Yeah. I was just mentioning it because I believe they also made it illegal after I bought it. I thought of it as “related”.
