Rumours of Drudge bias are unfounded (Barf Alert)
Telegraph ^ | 1/31/12 | Tim Stanley

Posted on 02/01/2012 1:12:38 PM PST by jimbo123

Matt Drudge is the Howard Hughes of the Internet. Like Hughes, he lives in splendid isolation, communicating only through a small group of trusted friends. Like Hughes, his influence has quietly helped shape Republican politics for a generation. But while the eccentric Hughes used money to put his pals in the White House, Drudge has always relied on blogs and Tweets. The Drudge Report, which started life as an emailed gossip column, now receives millions of unique visitors per month. One study found that it drives more traffic than Twitter and Facebook combined.

Drudge’s claim to be the authentic voice of the conservative movement is now under attack.

Funny that the author doesn't mention Drudge's hiring of 2 Romney operatives Joe Curl and Charlie Hurt as well as Drudge's deep, personal relationship with Romney's campaign manager Matt Rhoades...

I have not been to Drudge in a few days. I don’t need to read there any longer. His unprofessional behavior will be apart of his legacy now. Imo.

Why does this come out in a British paper?

Who are you going to believe me, or those lying pixels you’ve been seeing on Drudge.

Because the Brit newspapers have mostly reported what the American MSM would never do. This is an exception as there are pro-American reporters for the Telegraph and Mail like Don Surber.

Tim Stanley is a self-described US Historian and writing a book on Pat Buchanan. He seems all over the map - which might indicate he is not biased, but simply observing the chaos from afar; i.e. this article is semi-pro-Newt.

I just took him out of my favorites on my second pc.

Hubby did that also days ago from his 2 pcs. He is just like the lamestream media now. Never thought I would ever think that of him. I am tired of being told who to support ( so he can get his profits/advertising/his hits)

Maybe someone should ask his good friend Matt Rhoades.

This had 2 come from a UK paper cuz they don’t see themselves as competing with him.

Drudge will be the future of the US media...he is certain it’s present.

Even so I fear he’s becoming the very thing he replaced.

Which means there’s a “Drudge-to-be” out there.

And...I think he drives a wheelchair. Or...he is the son of the man who does.

Know what I *mean* ?

Newt had been leading Romney in the Gallup national poll up until yesterday and Drudge never once posted it on his site. Romney finally passed Newt in the poll today and guess what link suddenly appeared on the site? The whole thing makes me sick.

Drudge is not biased? That explains his coverage of the Romney AP Story about his comments regarding the poor.

Oh, wait. I just checked and it is not there....

Matt Drudge? The guy could pour a mean cherry slurpee. Asked him for a burrito once. He gave me a cherry slurpee. Pretty much a one-trick pony.

Boss Tweet, or Boss Twerp, what'll it be? Well, he has done some good; but not so much lately; this latest round is offensive.

Nov 14, 2011: Special report: The golden age of opposition research

Original source – Reuters .....Overall, Romney is thought to have the best oppo team in this Republican primary, with Yost as chief of research and Matt Rhoades, another veteran of RNC opposition research, as campaign manager. No one in the Romney organization would comment.

*****************

....."Frustrated rivals think they know the secret: a low-profile, hard-driving Republican operative named Matt Rhoades, who is Romney’s campaign manager. Rhoades met Drudge, as POLITICO Editor-in-Chief John F. Harris and co-author Mark Halperin reported in their book “The Way to Win: Taking the White House in 2008,” when he became research director of the Republican National Committee and was introduced by his predecessor on a special trip to Miami. Rhoades has since been seen as a pipeline to the reclusive Drudge, who now has two veteran Washington reporters working on the site as well.".... Source

Well, I’ve never seen Matt Drudge do anything like that before. But there’s no question that he absolutely went off the rails for Mitt Romney for the past week or so, and repeatedly slandered Newt Gingrich, and it may have put Romney over the top.

He may be isolated from the usual suspects, but for whatever reason, HE DID IT. He betrayed all of his usual principles and jumped in the tank for Romney the flip-flopping socialist liar.

Yes Matt is gay and I never really cared about it because he was conservative.

But now he’s pimping the gay agenda in the GOP along with Ann Coulter who is a biggy in the “GOP Proud” queer organization. That is why they support a socialist - Mittens - like flaming, mentally ill, distraut nut cases.
