Pelosi Vows to Stand W. Obama Against Catholic Church; Says Decision...Was 'Very Courageous'
CNS News ^ | 02/02/2012 | Thomas Cloud

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) vowed today that she will join with the Obama administration in standing up against the Catholic Church in defending a new regulation that will require Catholic individuals to buy, and Catholic institutions to provide, health insurance plans that cover sterilizations and artificial contraceptives, including those that induce abortions....

At her Wednesday press briefing, CNSNews.com asked Pelosi: "The administration has issued a regulation that will require all health-care plans to cover sterilization and all FDA-approved contraceptives, including those that induce abortions. This would force Catholic individuals and institutions to act against their consciences. All across the nation, Catholic bishops are saying-"

Pelosi responded: "Is this a speech, or do we have a question in disguise as a speech?"

CNSNews.com continued..."Catholic bishops are saying they will not comply with this law. Will you stand with your fellow Catholics in resisting this law or will you stick by the administration?"

Pelosi: "First of all, I am going to stick with my fellow Catholics in supporting the administration on this. I think it was a very courageous decision that they made, and I support it."

----On Monday to Saturday they vote for homosexuality, cross dressing, killing babies, etc and the Sunday they go to church once a year and then tell people every day they are Catholic.----

There's a well-documented, inverse relationship between Mass attendance and liberalism. Regular mass-goers are very conservative. Liberals are cultural Catholics.

The Bishops’ next and best move is public excommunication; (after public admonition and a promise to fulfill their ministry of guarding the sheep and dismaying the wolves.)

That is why I personally do not feel bad for the Catholic Church. Pelosi and others of her ilk have been left to continue their war on the pre-born and remain members of the Cathlic Church. Shame on them but doubly on the church that looks the other way.

It's up to her bishop. And her bishop has free will, to use for good or ill. Bishops are not infallible with regard to Church discipline, as this case makes obvious.

Maybe the Pope should issue a order that any Catholic who voted for the passage of ObamaCare be excommunicated Immediately. And a list with their names be sent to all Catholic Churches and posted for all to see.

I understand your point, and I guess it's theoretically possible, but the Church has limited earthly powers.

I recently learned that the Catholic Church, with over 1 billion members worldwide, has an annual operating budget that is 1/3 of the operating budget of the University of Notre Dame.

It's not the federal government. Its resources for self-policing are limited.

Practically speaking, the buck stops with the local bishop.

Who knows. The good father might well have imagined that if McCaskill heard the letter read aloud she might burst into flames on the spot and disturb the solemnity of the service.

You might counsel him to get over his fear of outing demons in our midst. He comes equipped with a cross, holy water, and all sorts of things that are believed by many to help out in such cases.

http://www.trosch.org/exc/excommunicated.html

Excommunicated according to the 1983 Code of Canon Law:

Daschle’s (D., S.D.), Senator Tom

Ferraro, Geraldin — former V.P. candidate

Giuliani, Rudolph William Louis “Rudy” Giuliani III — Mayor NYC

Kennedy, Senator Ted

Pelosi, Representative Nancy — U. S. Speaker of the House, 2007 A.D.

Wuerl, Archbishop Donald (Cardinal) Washington, DC

Catholic Democrats from Iowa City and Dubuque that voted to human clone.
Sen. Bolkcom
Sen. Connolly
Sen. Dvorsky
Murphy
Jochum
Mascher
Jacoby per Michelle Locher

Quirk, Brian – State Representative (D-New Hampton, MI.)

Now if you want to get real interesting there is a standing order of excommunication for all communists. Also understand that there are Canon Law violations that get automatic excommunication of which Nancy Pelosi and Sebelius are not in direct conflict with. No Bishop/Pope needs to make a formal pronouncement.

I spoke to a number of Catholics about Obama speaking at Notre Dame. Not one had a problem with it. Some shrugged their shoulders as if to say, “Oh well, what are you going to do?”

That's a big problem. If 50+% of Catholics voted for Obama, then 50+% of Catholics are cultural Catholics. When people speak like this, with a spirit of defeat, and when bishops fail to excommunicate such unrepentent, public sinners as Nancy Pelosi, I feel that a great spiritual oppression is affecting the Church.

I think it was Paul VI who said, "“from some fissure the smoke of Satan has entered the temple of God.”

No Bishop/Pope needs to make a formal pronouncement.

It's not absolutely necessary, but it's more than prudent at this point.

Unrepentant, public sinners, should be publicly excommunicated. This is grave matter. Politicians like Pelosi set a bad example, and the failure to publicly excommunicate them implies tacit acceptance of their actions by the bishop.

She is evil incarnate.

Is she saying she sticks with Obama or Catholics? Or did she find a liberal wing of Catholicism and she agrees with them?

To the democrats, standing against religious freedom is courageous.
There will be blood I think.
