The U.S. economy produced another solid month of job gains in January, offering a hopeful sign for hiring in the year ahead.
Employers added a net 243,000 jobs last month, the Labor Department reported Friday. Thats higher than December, when employers added a net 200,000 jobs, and it marked the seventh straight month in which at least 100,000 jobs were created. That hasn't happened since 2005.
The nations unemployment rate fell to 8.3 percent in January from 8.5 percent in the prior month. The unemployment rate has fallen for the past five months and is now at its lowest level in nearly three years.

Then how come I read yesterday that another 28% of jobs were lost in the midwest?
WHOO HOO!!! We’ll be back to 5% unemployment by next fall!! WHOO HOO!!! /mega uber sarc
I heard David Axelrod on the radio this morning praising Obama for his accomplishment of 22 straight months of positive job growth.
I couldn’t believe it. But they lie shamelessly.
This manipulation of the numbers will persist, but I expect the truth of continued unemployment will be apparent to the voters this fall.
Media is doing its job as BLS.
More propaganda from the BLS and the mainstream media to try and get their man Barry Soetoro re-elected. They don’t look at how many people have PERMANENTLY exited the full-time employment market. I know a biologist who works at Target because she can’t get a job in a pharma lab, which can’t be missed in this area by the proverbial swinging dead cat.
No matter what the media says, everyone knows more than one person whose been unemployed for over a year. Or has dropped out of the job seeking market and has given up looking.
Watching this false drop in unemployment is revolting. We are going to be lied to for the next 9 months about how great things are, when things have never been worse in our lifetime. Let’s hope voter’s are not fooled. We have less people employed now than a few years ago.
This is the equivalent of celebrating a 2% cost of living raise when the actual cost of living is going up 4%. We are losing ground, but are supposed to celebrate the progress.
Everyone knew that BO would scam the jobless number and have it below 8% by
Nov. It’s simple. Just take millions of workers who have exhausted their unemployment checks out of the labor force. It may be below 7% if enough workers are no longer counted. This is BO’s Alice-in-Wonderland labor policy and his enablers in the msm will publicize this phony “good news”.
Sounds like the numbers are being very artfully manipulated to get that UE rate down to 7% by November.
All hail Socialism!
All hail our Dear Leader!
*puke
1.2 million people dropped out of the labor force in one month.
That's how.
The civilian labor force is now at a 30-year low of 63.7%.
It’s a game of perception versus reality.
Waiting on them to bring back the old Clinton line “best economy in 50 years”.

Too late NObama biased/owned MSM !
No one(except a bunch of brainwashed libtards) sane believes you
I wonder how the “Obama stash” lady is making out?
Cool - pretty soon there will be so many jobs that we can all get second jobs, which we will need to make ends meet if the “good news” continues.
It's not that simple. You might think that's how they do it, but it's not.
Lol. Perfect!
because they are hiring more people to take on the masses at the welfare offices
I’ve been expecting for months that Obama’s team will report an unemployment rate below 8% by May. And no matter how many people they have to remove from the workforce in order to get there, it looks like they’re going to get there.
Back in 2007, when th eeconomy seemed quite healthy (DJIA 14,000, unemployment below 5%, annual federal deficit $160B) the media claimed it was the worst economy since Hoover.
I knew people (here in MA) who said, "I'm doing great! My neighbor is doing great! Even my lazy brother-in-law is doing great! But this sucky economy is the worst since Hoover -- I hear that a lot of people are hurting out there. We need to throw out the Republicans who are causing all this damage."
Today, I think people are saying, "I'm scared. My neighbor just lost his house. My brother-in-law is homeless. I'm just glad the recovery is so strong -- I can't imagine how bad things would be if Obama weren't in there making things better. We need to keep the Democrats in power so that the economy stays on track."
4 more years.
MSM’s are going down with this administration .. count on it
Stuart Varney on Foxnews predicts the Stock Market to be up 100 points at the open, because of the job news.
If the news were real it should be up a 1,000.
Yeah, that is not an “organic” looking chart. The GOP needs to hammer away at these phony stats.
$4 plus a gallon gas is making things better?
I just went to the grocer and bought all the Kool Aid they had. I’m going to make a fortune selling this drink to the masses. Of course I’m going to share my earnings up to 99% with those who deserve to be equal.
If things really crash hard,
people are going to be looking for someone to blame.
The elites and the media will try to push “the rich” meme,
and by “the rich”, they’ll imply “anyone that has anything more than you do”.
However, I can see some prepared folks, more toward the “rambo” types, hunting down those truly responsible and decorating some lampposts with them.
They’ll continue to lie about unemployment until America defaults on its debt and companies go bankrupt. That’s when they won’t be able to hide the truth any longer.
There are more people employed than unemployed at the moment. In general, most people’s awareness of the unemployment rate is based on a very small sample, and what the MSM tells them.
If the MSM tells them everything is good, how would a person know any different? That is, assuming that person used personal experience and the MSM almost exclusively for information.
The MSM is very powerful, and fabricating a happy narrative for BHO will be effective.
bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Oh, my, the Obama worshipping media is really, really trying hard.
THAT is the key question, and one I'm sure BO is asking repeatedly.
He'll never lose the black vote to Republicans. However, if a large percentage of blacks didn't "Get Theirs", they may just say "why bother" and stay at home.
Yeah but this is still going to be a big boost for Barry. The media is going to push that 8.3 number, and few people will look deeper.
Barry just took a step towards 4 more years.
The challenge is convincing the sheeple of the truth. The truth can be a harsh medicine, unlike the sugary MSM tripe they prefer.
It doesn't have to. American voters generally don't dig deep enough into the facts to develop an informed judgment. The truth only confuses them.
I've noticed a definite trend in reporting on the Facebook IPO --
NPR today covered "who is getting rich" and discussed some guy who was lucky enough to be a college roommate of someone else, or a guy who was lucky enough to be hired to spray-paint murals at Facebook HQ a few years ago. They had a list of "lucky" people who got paid in stock and who are now worth tens of millions of dollars.
Do you see? All the rich people in society are just lucky. It's not fair. I could be worth a billion dollars, you know, but the money didn't fall into my lap -- it fell into someone else's lap.
The media wants voters to be angry at the unfairness of our society. People like Romney? Like Trump? Why are they so special????
I've heard that coveting is wrong, but I don't think the media agrees.
This is really weird. When the unemployment rate was going up, Barry and the ‘RATS kept giving us excuses like, “It snowed a lot this month.”, “It rained a lot this month.” and “It was really windy this month”. I haven’t seen any changes in the weather and now the numbers are going down. Somebody is lying.
When the BLS is changing the way it calculates these numbers month to month, how can one possibly trust the unemployment number? That’s what Obama hopes the 99% ignores. Of course, it you use the BLS methods to calculate it, the 99% becomes the 1%.
