The Mormon moment
Politico ^ | February 2, 2012 | MJ Lee

As Mitt Romney solidifies his frontrunner status with a double-digit win this week in the Florida Republican primary, Mormons are embracing a unique moment in their political history that has been dubbed the “Mormon moment” — but not without concerns about what the increasing prominence could mean for their community.

In extensive interviews with 10 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who live and work in the D.C.-area, POLITICO discovered a close-knit community that is enjoying, granted with some reservations, the national spotlight that Romney’s second White House bid is helping to shine on Mormons across the country.

Last month, the Pew Research Center released a 125-page report titled “Mormons in America” that surveyed over 1,000 members of the LDS Church. According to the poll, the majority of Mormons across the country, 63 percent, said they believe acceptance of their religion is on the rise.

the verses speak for themselves, if holy scripture isn’t good enough for you, then nothing I say will be, either

Then why is it still part of the doctrine and covenants.

You are not clear and exact in your answers.

Please do not avoid God's Word about who Jesus IS.

Answer the question, Pancho, which bible do you use, the JST which Brigham Young declared to be a fraud, or the KJV which the gods that appeared to Smith in the grove said was corrupt ?

Many are watching. It is a simple question at the VERY ROOT of mormonism. JST or KJV ?

Well ?

Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Proverbs 28:26
He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

Acts 17:11
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Matthew 24:35
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Matthew 24:34-36
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

Mark 13:30-32
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

The reason it’s on hold was so Utah could get statehood. It’s in their doctrine still.

Right after the 1890 proclamation and Utah was now a state the Mormons sent their first congressman to Washington...a well known polygamist...

How sincere is that ???

Now does that sound like the Mormon gods really wanted the practice of Mormonism to cease ???

He didnt ever get to be seated though...

7 MILLION indignant Christians around the country signed a petition against a guy with such an indecent lifestyle...

BTW that Mormon prophet who made the proclamation never did “put away” his extra wives...

nor did the succeeding “prophets”...

not for several DECADES...

"the verses speak for themselves, if holy scripture isn’t good enough for you, then nothing I say will be, either"

I posted verses out of your "holy scripture" from abraham above at post 62 which you continue to ignore, along with FLDS/LDS "prophet" Joseph Smith's ENTIRE RETRANSLATION OF THE BIBLE which the breakaway LDS discarded as a fraud.

All you have to say is I'm a "funny guy".

Simple questions pancho, and people are watching you ignore them.

Yeah, hopefully they be sure to talk about how even the immediate family of the bride and groom are not allowed into the temple if they are not “Mormon enough”. WTF?

Reference correction for post 84.

Matthew 24:35
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Mark 13:31
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

Luke 21:33
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

Sorry, but you can’t pretend to know what I feel inside. It is peace which comes from Christ, not the turmoil and contention that comes from the Devil. I get that peace from reading the scriptures, including the Book of Mormon. I know you don’t like that, but that is how it works for me.

Lord of the Rings

“One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them”

If you want to quote fiction, quote good fiction. We are a fairly smart group. For example we have not fallen for the obvious fallacies and forgeries that make up LDS “scripture” and theology.

Still here, and still ignoring me.

I asked you a simple question ABOUT THE VERY ROOT, THE VERY FOUNDATION OF YOUR "CHURCH", AND YOU CANNOT ANSWER IT !

JST OR KJV ? Three letters have you so cunfused and ashamed you won't even respond.

I recommend Tums for that "burning bosom" of yours, and a healthy dose of God's word for you to know the truth.

Know this however, when wolves in sheep's clothing approach the flock here with the deceptions of your cult, you'll be met by God's german shepherds, the FreeRepublic Inmans !

You write like a true Mormon, duplicitously. You tell me I cannot know how you feel inside, yet you assert that I do not like something you practice. LOL

And here's a hint you poor soul, I don't like or dislike what you're mired in. I feel deeply sorry for you though. and oh yeah, I hate the antiChrist spirit at the heart of and oozing from MormonISM. And I am probably more familiar with your own religion and its documents than you will ever be, yet I do not like or dislike that you are blind to the deception in them. I just feel sorry for you, enough so that I will continue to point out the obvious deceits and contradictory aspects you continue to ignore in order to continue to 'feel' comfy.

This is the quote where FLDS/LDS "Prophet" Joseph Smith claimed to be greater than Christ.

Go ahead Pancho, go prove me a liar !

"Come on! ye prosecutors! ye false swearers! All hell, boil over! Ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! for I will come out on top at last. I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet...When they can get rid of me, the devil will also go." (History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 408, 409)

you can mock the peace of the spirit (and it is sad that you do), but that doesn’t make it any less real, I hope you are able to feel it, as well

Actually we can. Many of us are very well acquainted with the Bible (the real one) and God's very clear instruction to test spirits that speak to us against the word and our own ability to reason. He was very clear that the spirits of darkness will come in the veil of light and goodness to tempt and mislead us. That is why God gave us minds as well as emotions.

A reasoned minds knowns the words in the BOM and other LDS writings is not from God.

Compare reality to what your heart has been telling you. It will not add up, it can't.

There's a guy in the White House who thinks he's the Messiah

The Republicans are running a guy for president who thinks he can become a god--like Emperor Vespasian...
