The American Civil Liberties Union is suing a Washington state library district for not offering access to online porn, Seattle's King 5 TV reports.
When a user logs on to a computer at the Wenatchee public library, for example, and types "porn" into the search engine, the list of results will appear as if porn doesn't exist, according to King 5.
The search censorship by the North Central Regional Library also means some websites -- such as Google Images and YouTube -- are blocked too. The board decided the filter serves its mission to promote reading and lifelong learning.
"We believe having pornography in public places hurts our ability to accomplish our mission," Dan Howard, director of public services, told King 5.
The district won the case in the state Supreme Court two years ago, but the case is now pending in a federal court.
"We are a publicly funded institution," Director Dean Marney said in a statement published on the district website. " It is crazy to think that we should be required to use tax dollars to allow open access to Internet pornography or to become illegal casinos."
The ACLU is representing three library users and a nonprofit organization, and argues that federally funded libraries should disable their filters upon the request of an adult.

The biggest tragedy in this campaign period is that the candidate with the absolute best ability to out punch the left is the one with the most personal baggage for the left (and our own GOP) to target (Gingrich). I’ve had it with ‘gentleman’ country club politicians. We need fighters.
The way to deal with the ACLU is to find out where there lawyers and administrators live and push issues in their own backyards that they won't like, but would support in someone else’s backyard.

In order to be consistant, the public employees at the library should shut down and remove ALL computers to prevent these chicken**** lawsuits by the maggots down at the Anti-American Communist Liberals Union. Isn’t that the way it works? Prayer in school. Computers in libraries? Remove the problem. Make it go away.

Tar (black strap molasses) and feather the ACLU lawyers. Have a sheriff’s deputy standing by and arrest them for indecent exposure. Deliver straight to the judge who finds them guilty, they are naked after all, puts them on the sex offenders list and gives them six months suspended, leaving them with the warning that if they return to the county they will reside in the county jail. Those who contacted the ACLU should be shunned by the citizens of the county.
Pornography should be illegal. It is a degradation of the human body and has ruined countless marriages, among other things.
I suspect this is why our library, when revamped, has separate areas for kids’ computers, teens computers and adult computer usage instead of one large bank of computers.

This is more of the “Sodomy is good” crowd——turning our document which was founded with the concept of Natural Rights from God-—and a Biblical standard of Right and Wrong——which is being thrown out-—God is being banned as they put Satan (Baal) as the standard of Right and Wrong for this country.
All this without overthrowing the original Constitution. Where are the Judges-—in the tradition of John Marxhall—who would have ruled such garbage as ‘Null and Void”-—Just Laws can NEVER go against the First Principles of the Constitution. All laws have to be Rational—and logical—nothing about allowing degrading images of human deviancy is the Constitutional. Especially that which destroys civil societies and violates human dignity. Never was.
THis was an issue in MPLS some years ago. Female library workers filed a greavance saying all the pornograph on the library’s computers constituted a hostile work environment and was sexual harassement.
I forget how it turned out. Gave the perves their own room maybe,.
