He avoids like the plague any interviews with multiple reporters and conditions that are much more risky in blowing his cover as an idiot. One-on-one interviews are far more controllable. I think this is covered in chapter 5 of the book "How not to show your a Dummy, for Dummies"

If he’s trying to hide the fact that he’s a dummy, he’s failing miserably.

It was/is Barry TV. 24 hour fricking hours a day. Hell, I can't go to the gym and work out without seein' him on TV.
He is everywhere boredcast in Barack-O-Vision
This guy has had at least one speech per day televised since November 2008!! Amazing!
Major speeches in the last month? This a-hole needs his own channel.
He is on TV damn near every day and sometimes twice as day.
He started his own sitcom back when he invented the Office of the President Elect.
Oh! And great news. He is having another Telethon Tonight!
Yeahhhh!
Yeah, because now all broadcast are now improved and enhanced Barack-O-Color

Interviews can be choreographed, scripted, edited, and controlled. Impromptu Q.&A.’s can't be.
That's why control-freak Obama prefers Interviews.

This guy is not very bright...affirmative actioned all the way into the White House. The depressing thing is how his election shows the power of the media to bamboozle millions of voters.
His dumbness is hidden by the likes of NBCNNCBSNPRABCPBS...our Pravda. Gotta wonder if these folks are actually on the DNC payroll?
Anybody else remember when Obama claimed “thousands” died in a Kansas tornado? Or his “corpsemen” remarks. The guy ain’t an American and has no clue about the culture.
The media covers, and covers, and covers. They promote him 24/7, 365. Pravda.

That’s why if I was going to do an interview with the president. I would do it live. I would work with the president for weeks choreographing and scripting it to perfection. Then at live time, I would change all of the questions. I would use perfectly reasonable and rational and non gotcha questions, so when he stormed off in a hissy fit, he would even look dumber after a non-stop stream of uhhh uhhh uhhh uhhh.
The other job I want is to be his teleprompter operator for a day.
