It is kept alive by those who are still bitter that their teams were beaten fair and square by Belichick and crew. It gives them a reason to believe that their teams were maybe not fairly beaten after all.
The taping of the Jets signals on the sideline ended up not being such a huge advantage as the Jets beat the Patriots a good number of times since. Belichick did violate the rules however and paid the penalty (fine and loss of draft pick). Time to move on folks.
