SALT LAKE CITY -- Sunday afternoon, an explosion occurred at the home of Josh Powell.
Brother-in-law, Kirk Graves, confirms that Powell was killed in the explosion.
King 5 TV in Seattle reports that Powell had visitation with his two sons -- who live with their grandparents Chuck and Judy Cox -- at the time of the explosion. According to the report, the caseworker, who was outside at the time, smelled gas just before the explosion. Firefighters recovered two bodies that appear to be children.
More details will be released as made available.
Was his wife’s body ever found?
And nothing to those of us who haven’t. What’s the background, without the hysterics?
Wifes body was never found. Here’s a link to another story....

His wife disappeared a while back under very suspicious circumstances. I had to look it up because the name sounded familiar.
Unbelievable! He murdered his wife(They never found the body) and now he murdered his two boys and killed himself. He is the ultimate schmuck
Oh, THAT guy! Creep! Sorry his children were killed.
In a nutshell, wife went missing. Husband reported that they went camping in the middle of the night. Wife never found. Children sent to live with grandparents since husband was a suspect. Husband wanted the family court to turn children over to him or a neutral third party. Husband was visiting children and the house blew up (children were ages 5 and 7).

Authorities believe an explosion and fire at the home of Josh Powell has killed him and his two children.
Police are awaiting verification from the Medical Examiners Office, but they believe the three dead are the husband of missing Utah woman Susan Powell and their two children, said Ed Troyer of the Pierce County Sheriffs Office.
KOMO News reported the explosion took place at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, and flames roared through the home near the intersection of 182nd Street and 84th Avenue.
A case worker had just dropped off Powells sons at the home for a supervised visit, the source said. Powell then shut the door on the caseworker and locked it.
The case worker then reported smelling gas fumes, and then an explosion ripped through the home.
Last week, a judge ordered that Powells sons, Charlie, 7 and Braden, 5, remain in the custody of their grandparents, Chuck and Judy Cox.
thx - I was cutting and pasting the same article;(
wow unbelievable, but not really.
josh powell’s father was SUPER weird. I knew any son of his had to be a super weirdo as well.
Josh took the kids out in middle of the night in freezing conditions to go “camping” and when he home the next day the wife was gone. they claimed she must of took off on a bicycle and ran off with another man. LOL he also decided to do a steam cleaning of his carpet that day his wife went missing.
maybe the cops got some evidence and josh got tipped off.
What an evil thing to have done. What was this man’s background, did it have anything to do with his actions?
It’s gone mainstream now....
Mormon Ultimatum
You’ve got to give it to the Mormons. Just when you think a stranger story can’t come out of Utah, it does... and then you find out its related to the church.
What a despicable thing to do. That case worker is probably lucky to be alive.
I’m so angry. He should have had those kids taken away as soon as his wife went missing!
at least Josh is now facing God for his crimes.
I also have to wonder why the judge in the case, or whoever made the decision regarding the "supervised visitation" did not think to have it take place in a neutral location, preferably under guard, and not in Powell's home, considering the circumstances. Since he was under suspicion of having murdered his wife, it does not take that strong an imagination to think that he might kill the children. (He could just as easily have killed the social worker as he did the wife, the children, and himself).
Oh no. This makes me sad. How devastating for those children’s grandparents. They’ve suffered so much and now even more imaginable.
I’m angry!
