The other faction is young women 19 to 34 who have a high unemployment rate (compared to other women their age in prior periods) and who are literally delaying having babies ~ which they want ~ because those young men they might marry, or to whom they're already married, don't have jobs.

Well, the elite college-educated ones have run afoul of the old rule about marrying up. By the time they're through grad school, "up" is all married-up, thank you, and they're screwed.

There is no chance they'll marry down -- remember Murphy Brown and the repair guy who was always hanging around? Good match, except that he was blue-collar and therefore no-go. (The actor that portrayed him died about six years ago.) I use her fictional character as VP Dan Quayle did -- as a visual aid only. But the success of the series was tied to real-world demographics, according to which television nowadays is so estrogenated that you cannot flip through the channels without seeing, on each one, either a woman, a doctor, or a child. And that's on the evening news. So Quayle's choice was appropriate.

And these women wind up all married to the Democratic Party, liberal ideology, two cats, and a glass of wine.

.......to win the presidency we must win the Independents .....

Tell me how well that worked out in 2008. That was the RiNO line then, remember? We all had to fall into line behind their boy, McCain (never mind that he was about their fourth choice, and we didn't even get one choice).

Dole. McCain. Poppy Bush. Gerry Ford. Wendell Willkie. You guys never learn.

You missed the point ~ the young gals ALSO have a job and career deficit and nobody is doing anything about it. They have a slightly higher employment rate than the guys ~ but the economic conditions that prevailed way back when Murphy Brown was current simply aren't there.

Obama imagines he can capture their attention with free birth control, and maybe an improved condom or something.

Does not work when the need is for a job.

By definition there can be NO politically active Independents. They don’t exist.

There was no “sex” in that deal anyway. If there had been Bill is worth an awful lot more than what the network paid her to shut up and go away.

What exactly has changed Ann?

My guess would be the promise of a high profile position in a new administration.

Ann is a good American, and a good conservative.

That she disagrees with many here on Romney should not be a deal-breaker, (Newt is no prize, I'm afraid).

As far as the mean comments about appearance, she is a knockout, and that's that.

At some point, we might want to stop smash-mouthing our friends, btw. It does us true harm in an upcoming election.

FTR, I'm a Santorum supporter in the primary, and I'll vote for whomever wins the GOP nomination -- NO THIRD PARTY SPOILERS!

I have every one of her books to date and I'll NEVER buy another. Castrated is the wrong word. That somehow implies an unwillingness or lack of choice in the procedure. Ann SOLD HER SOUL to sit at the big table with the the power brokers who wish to sit at the feet of the unholy creature the United Nations is about to host (AntiChrist). Mittens is in that crowd, too. I'm sorry to say that a whole lot of the folks we have regarded as heroes in the past will also make the same evil transaction for exactly the same reasons. SO: RAPTURE READY?

Obama imagines he can capture their attention

He doesn't need to capture anything; they've been in chains for 30 years now, ideological thralls of feminism and liberalism. These, Pew says, are the most ideological, committed, last-ditch partisan bloc in the Democratic Party. They would vote for Obama if he were caught standing over a grilled baby. Remember Paula Jones and the Silence of the Lambs? That's who these kept women are. Their hearts belong to daddy.

OK "X", your answer ~ just which Democrat faction is it that Republicans (Conservative or Otherwise) can pull in to beat Obama? That'd be young men 19, 20, 21....... 34 years of age who have the LARGEST rate of unemployment in the nation, and for whom NO ONE has done anything!

The other faction is young women 19 to 34 who have a high unemployment rate (compared to other women their age in prior periods) and who are literally delaying having babies ~ which they want ~ because those young men they might marry, or to whom they're already married, don't have jobs.

Republicans have a shot with first time voters, especially those who can't find full-time work. But a swing demographic has to be one that goes to the polls, that votes for major party candidates, and is willing to switch to your party.

A lot of young people don't vote and others may go for a third party. Voters about 30 who went for Kerry and Obama and think of everything in terms of Bush also aren't likely to choose the GOP.

Also the problem with voting trends is they only really get confirmed later. Reagan did well with twentysomethings in 1980 (many thirtysomethings who were still thinking about Vietnam, student protest, and Watergate were still voting against Nixon so Reagan didn't do as well with them), but the trend was really noticeable in 1984 when the younger voters stuck with Reagan.

So, yes, younger voters are a valuable swing demographics, but probably older voters who went for Bush and then switched to Obama may be a better prospect for Republicans. So are those demographics who weren't as strong for Obama as for other Democrats, working-class White middle Americans, I guess.

You are not paying attention. Your appeal to authority is subverted by the evidences brought in by the other posters. Your patronizing tone is getting you nowhere, and it isn't doing anything for your logic.

Ann Coulter has been a strong conservative. Suddenly she endorses a mushy RiNO -- against her own principles -- and we're supposed to hork down the contradiction and just "deal with" the dissonance? Don't think so.

this time around it’s so close we gotta peel off the indies....

RiNO mushy-middle meme. Does not work -- see Ronald Reagan's example, versus those of the luser RiNO's I listed for you above, including Dole and McCain. Indies vote for a Democrat in a low-contrast election.

there are too many libs out there now...thats the diff. between NOW and NOT now....make sense?

Surrender meme, failure meme, moral abjection and defeat. You stink. Get lost.

So are those demographics who weren't as strong for Obama as for other Democrats, working-class White middle Americans, I guess.

Those are the famous "hard hats" who voted for George C. Wallace in 1968 and put Nixon in the White House ... then voted for Nixon himself, then Reagan in 1980. They're probably one of the most available groups, since they have jobs and families, and many of them have served in the military. Their polar opposites, single women with advanced degrees who never served in the military and never married, are the hardcore Democratic Progs I wrote about above.
