How Latinos Won the Race Back to Pre-Recession Employment
The Atlantic ^ | February 6, 2012 | Derek Thompson

Although Latinos make up only a seventh of the population, they have "racked up half the employment gains posted since the economy began adding jobs in early 2010", the Los Angeles Times reported this morning. In 2011, the trend accelerated. Of the 2.3 million jobs added in 2011 according to the Household Survey of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 1.4 million, or 60 percent, were won by Latinos.

Willard's buddies love their cheap foreign labor. Newt is just as bad. (I do not believe Romney's supposed tough on illegal immigration talk)

Also, if many of them have self-deported, they’re smaller numbers will show an increased recovery.

where I live in Texas, the only people you can hire that will actually work are hispanics (physical labor)

everyone white is on drugs and wants to spend the entire day taking smoking breaks or counting their tatoos and piercings.

I pay $100 a day, so it’s not about saving money it’s about getting people who will actually work.

I am sure it helps businesses avoid those nasty employer taxes as well. The cost of hiring a citizen is a bit much these days.

to me personally it’s far more about the hassle of the paperwork than the cost.

Considering how many Chrysler product units are made in Mexico (and Canada), maybe Clint ought to forget about half time in Detroit and find some full time hard working employees from Mexico.

Errr...maybe they work hard and actually show up for the job and are not stoned when they’re there? That’s a novel idea!

All the whites and the blacks in my neck of the woods who might take lower end jobs are (a) too busy making or using meth or even simply permastoned on grass, or (b) if they want to get a job other than a laborer’s job, they don’t have a driver’s license anymore and they can’t pass a background check.

We had a great job at a local place, not lavishly paid but okay, with good working conditions and schedule, and requiring only basic skills... and they got virtually no applicants. And of the tiny handful, only 1 could pass the background check, and he wasn’t up to the job physically because he was too fat and lasted only one week (there were a lot of stairs involved).

A friend of mine had a useless, drug-using boyfriend who was offered a job that required hard work and he refused it because he said “only a Mexican would take a job like that.”

Also, the Latinos have better educational skills than our welfare generation. Most of them can do basic math and can read (at least in Spanish), which is something our schools haven’t trained anybody to do.

Why does it take less paperwork hassle to hire ‘hispanic’ employees than ‘white’ employees?

I am sure it is in triplicate. Hey that sounds like another job that lazy, stupid Americans just aren’t doing.

Anything I need done on a regular basis I subcontract out to others (usually legal Hispanics business owners) so I don't have to deal with the paperwork headache associated with hiring someone directly.

But I also need odd jobs done occasionally and I give those to whoever shows up asking that looks like they aren't strung out on drugs, rob me blind, and will actually WORK. Heck I would MUCH rather hire someone I can actually speak English to but I see one white guy for every 100 Hispanics that come around and the one white guy usually looks like he just put down his drugs minutes before stumbling to my door.

It’s not racist. Texas Freeper is absolutely right.

We have some big problems with our labor force here.

We have some people who feel they’re “too good” to take just any old job, and we have others who our state schools have left so ignorant and unskilled that they have nothing to offer...and we have a huge problem with the latter group getting discouraged and spending most of their (probably short) lives sponging off the women and children in their families who can collect welfare and selling drugs on the side.

Also, so many people are now growing up in this culture that most of them have been arrested several times before they even drop out of high school (for DUI, drug offenses, or petty burglary and assault) that they can’t get a job that requires a background check. And many of them have lost their DL and thus are useless for a lot of jobs.

We have a serious problem in this country and we’d better start addressing it. And it’s not the fact that immigrants can get jobs; they’d get them anyway, because we have more jobs than we have young people. But the thing that is really sad is that our native born young people can’t even qualify for most of these jobs, whether because of their lack of skills, their arrest records, or their government-supported laziness.

Oh, well, then it’s a good thing the ILLEGALS can pass a background check and have a valid driver’s license.

You must NOT live in Houston. Take a trip enter Southwest Houston, you do so at your own risk, illegals live in many apt’s in Southwest Houston, of late, there have been drug deals gone bad, drive by shooting, drunk driving, drug dealers, hit and runs.Same goes for South East Houston, North West Houston, even Katy Tx has ongoing problems with illegals, for where there are large populations of illegals, there are higher rates of crime. If you are paying $ 100 a day, for what kind of employment and how much taxes are being withheld, what happens when illegals are hurt on the job, do you tell illegals go to the nearest ER to receive free medical care as no healthcare plan provided here.
It’s all about finding short cuts, no benefits, no retirement plan, no knowledge of osha laws and regulations, increase of drivers on our roads with no licence and insurance, when fatal accidents happens, the illegals never have to pay for any damages, pain and suffering, replacement cars, your $ 100 a day, does not carry over to what it costs the taxpayers to provide services to illegals, you do not provide. All around Houston I see Mexican day labors , the property landscape is dying, and a lot of day labors hanging around, if they do not work they drink beer, they make cat calls at women,They call women mommy, they use the restroom outside. But you praise them as hardworkers, clearly you do not venture very far into Houston.Try going into some of these areas at 3 am and see what happens.

Which translates into "I violate federal law by using illegal alien labor".

lol

I’m not racist, in fact I about as lilly white as it comes.

but I am just relating my personal experience.

Would I prefer to hire someone I can actually speak to in English? heck yeah!

would I turn away anyone white that looked honest and was willing and able to work hard? not in a million years.

What I am saying is in my personal experience in the area of Texas that I live in (for kind of work I have to offer) I just don’t come accross that many young white men who are willing to do it. The type of work I am talking about is sort of construction/handyman type stuff.

I am sure there are 1,000’s of highly qualified young white men within a few miles of where I live that need a job. But they obviously don’t want to do the type of work I have to offer that’s dirty, sweaty and sometimes nasty and dangerous.
