Proper protocol was performed at Ft. Smith, Arkansas in the late 19th century: Hymn singing, proper crowd on hand to witness the result of crime, bag over the perp's head to lessen the ghoulish spectacle.

The perp may not have deserved such a quick, painless and dignified ceremony. But it had the appropriate deterrent effect and administered proper justice blended with proper mercy.

And that was what was most important.

Point taken, and in this case very grudgingly agreed with, despite my post.

Civilization started to go downhill once we became squeamish about it.

Perhaps that's why it's so easy to dismiss your civilized (and correct) reminder of how to deal with these things - because civilized justiced has been raped for so long, that atrocities are being protected in the name of compassion, while childrens dead bodies lay blood in the dirt.

And I don't believe psychopaths "can't be reached." It's just a matter of being willing to speak their language.

Excellent point and no offense taken. I don't presume to judge whether or not they can be reached.

All I can say is that there are certain crimes so heinous that it is beyond the ability of the smartest and most civilized of men to deal with them. In such cases, the only proper solution is to return them to their maker and let Jesus judge and deal with them.

Those who have really found Jesus don't fear meeting him.
