The stated position, that I’ve heard, is that she’s “self-excommunicated” because of her support of abortion and birth control, etc.

However, I see this as a really COWARDLY position to take on the part of the RCC.

As livius said, there should be a public and “positive” excommunication done by someone within the church. To not do so demonstrates weakness, cowardice, and defames the RCC.

Public excommunication has been the only thing that has ever worked with political figures. Pelosi is giving public scandal and she must be corrected publicly.

The same applies to Sibelius, who has been asked privately not to go to Communion...but obviously is not even slightly disturbed by this. Until her bishop publicly announces that she is not to be given Communion and is thus outside of the communion of the Church until she reconciles and accepts its authority over that of Caesar, she’ll continue to make a mockery of the whole thing by presenting herself as a Catholic.
