Girls as young as 13 have been fitted with contraceptive implants at school without their parents knowing.
The procedure was carried out in Southampton, Hants, as part of a government initiative to drive down teenage pregnancies.
As many as nine secondary schools in the city are thought to have been involved.
But it has caused a backlash from parents who weren't aware that their daughters had been fitted with the 4cm device, which sits under the skin.
It is currently unknown exactly how many youngsters have taken part in the scheme.

What cracks me up is that these pro-contraceptive, pro-abort types are usually enviro weenies. Yet they have no problem polluting the body of young women with synthetic hormones that eventually end up polluting our water supply. Prime example of how demented & deranged the left is.
This is utterly appalling & you are right that Obamacare will bring about the same in US schools. We already witnessed a similar situation when a WA school carted a minor off for an abortion without her mother’s knowledge or consent during school hours. Pure evil.

It seems to me that it might it be a bit painful to have a nearly 2” long object shoved under one’s skin.
I believe this is really a Planned Parenthood effort to establish themselves in our schools as referral centers.
I think the cost off-set of taking care of the various STDs that will undoubtedly escalate with the removal of pregnancy risks should be considered. Which one is costlier? We have already seen dramatic rises in these diseases in the past decade (my estimate). Also,like everyone has pointed out, rapists and abusers are all jumping for joy.

It's already happened. My niece received a contraceptive implant at 13 or 14 (about 16 years ago) through her school, without her parents' prior consent. (Well, not technically through the school but through some group the school allowed in.) She wasn't sexually active, but there was the little matter of a $25 payment to each of the girls who accepted the implant. Looked like easy money to her.
