The upshot? (synposizing here): "The GOP race has been thrown into chaos, as it was assumed Romney would be the nominee. Romney was humiliated by Santorum's stunning win in three midwest and western states on Tuesday. Now things will build to a crescendo for Super Tuesday, and there are still 40 states to go for the GOP."
I saw that Romney was including attacks on Santorum in e-mails (to his supporters?) though he hadn’t had any anti-Santorum ads. Anyone know more about this?
People in those three states yesterday might know better than me, I don’t. But for sure, the famous ROMNEY SLIME MACHINE is going to go into overdrive now. Hold on to your hats. The Bishop and his skunworks in the basement is going to get down and nasty on the Rick Santorum campaign! Guaranteed! It will all be good training though for the general when Obama throws even more mud out of sheer desperation and no record to run on.

I have to say Rick is a big government spender guy.
He voted against a flat tax. Look at his record. He is a earmarks politician. He voted for Sonia Sotomayor, as a Circuit Judge knowing of her radical background now, she is USS justice.
If Santorum would have endorsed Toomey over Specter in 2004, perhaps Toomey would have beat Specter in the primary, Toomey would have beat the Democrat in the general, and Specter would not have been the 60th vote for Obamacare in the Senate; no Obamacare.
I am worried about him beating Obama. Same old politician.
I think Newt has the best chance and best ideas. I can't believe people think he is for limited government. Rush and Michele Malkin, too. What are they thinking.

I was glad to vote for him in SC.
If folks were paying closer attention he should be sweeping the thing at this point.

I have it on good sources that within the White House, the GOP candidate they MOST want to run against is ROMNEY. And the candidate they LEAST want to run against is SANTORUM. This has been picked up from multiple sources. The part A of this was already inadvertently leaked by high DNC organizational leaders (former). I think their opposition research yields the fact that there is the least amount of personal “dirt” on Rick Santorum. And since they cannot win on the issues or Obama’s track record, necessarily their campaign will HAVE to be on some personality defect or scandal surrounding their GOP opponent. That is my take at least.
Interesting. You wouldn't know that from the brave face the White House was putting on last night - at least according to the supine MSM. The official line is that the White House was gleeful in the face of Santorum's success. I'm sure we'll be hearing much more of the same in an attempt to prop up "frontrunner" Romney and squash Santorum.
“they” want this primary to drag out for as long as possible, into a brokered convention hopefully. Then they want us to go into the primary cycle with an impoverished candidate that doesn’t unify the party and who has spent the last year having every bit of poo that he has ever buried dug up and flung on him by his own party for the whole country to see. And guess what, that’s exactly what they’re going to get.
This is how I read it...

Blow to Romney? This was more of a blow to Newt. I’ve been for Newt since the second debate but he hit a wall. Look at the numbers... Romney still in the low 30’s. Rick is getting voters that are leaving Newt and looking for another anti-Romney.
Mitt’s best argument was that he was most electable. Shattered last night. Newt’s best argument was that he could out’debate Obama. Shattered in FL. This thing is outa control. The GOP-E needs an industrial size box of Depends.
Romney wins when there is a split among conservatives. If they can unite behind Santorum or Newt, (or whatever just unite behind someone darn it!) and Romney doesn’t have a chance.
Rove says his turn for vetting now. Romney is a terrible person for being so negative. Rick may be sparred some of those negative ads, after Newt took the most (people sick of those ads) though his record will come out. Most of his ideas are backed up to a government plan. Rick is stern social conservative. The media will focus there and pound him. The election is about jobs recovery. I prefer Newt/ideas of how he has got things done by reform with big solutions.
Before anyone gets too carried away they should glance at the delegate totals.

I take great comfort in knowing there are 40 more states to go. Romney has a little over 100 delegates, big deal, while more than 1100 are required to win it. Romney must not win. If he does, we don’t win the presidency, it’s that simple.
I might add, that if Romney is the nominee, I don’t want republicans to win the presidency.

6 more weeks of this guy and his “I’m the true perfect conservative from God” routine.
While Newt took all of the flak and bombs, he stood off in the corner like a coward and tossed some at him too, All with the idea that he is some super candidate when in fact he’s just been ignored.
Now the Romney/MSM blowtorch crew will take it to the show to his door.
I will just grab some popcorn.
