Kathy Dahlkemper: I Wouldn't Have Voted for Obamacare If I'd Known About HHS Rule
The Weekly Standard ^ | February 7, 2012 | JOHN MCCORMACK

Posted on 02/08/2012 3:49:52 AM PST by RobinMasters

Former Democratic congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper, a Catholic from Erie, Pennsylvania, cast a crucial vote in favor of Obamacare in 2010. She lost her seat that November in part because of her controversial support of Obamacare.

But Dahlkemper said recently that she would have never voted for the health care bill had she known that the Department of Health and Human Services would require all private insurers, including Catholic charities and hospitals, to provide free coverage of contraception, sterilization procedures, and the "week-after" pill "ella" that can induce early abortions.

"I would have never voted for the final version of the bill if I expected the Obama Administration to force Catholic hospitals and Catholic Colleges and Universities to pay for contraception,” Dahlkemper said in a press release sent out by Democrats for Life in November.

"We worked hard to prevent abortion funding in health care and to include clear conscience protections for those with moral objections to abortion and contraceptive devices that cause abortion. I trust that the President will honor the commitment he made to those of us who supported final passage."

Earth to Kathy: What did you think the endgame was here? Anybody who just took a casual glimpse at our Dear Reader's past associations and his totalitarian mindset saw this coming. Why do you think HHS was granted such sweeping power? When you give so much power to some appointed official who really doesn't have to answer to the voters, this is the abuse you get.

I believe it is possible for this fool to be both. Hey, kathy, don’t you read and think about bills before you vote for them? You should have your pay docked, you irresponsible putz. Resign immediately on the grounds of incompetence.

Betcha she was one of the many pieces of $hit who stood and roared when the bill was signed. She was obviously promised by obama and pelosi that they would provide several million $$$$’s to protect her and her House seat in the election. Tootle-do, toots. Perhaps you can get a job with TSA molesting 10 year olds in airports or an entry level job frying wings in the White House kitchen.

She proves the point that “democrat Catholic” is an oxymoron. Don’t judge Catholics by uninformed “do gooders” like this person. CS Lewis said it best, “I would rather be ruled by robber barons than by omnipotent moral busybodies”.

When it is 2000 plus pages and no one reads it, and you have to pass it to see what’s in it, and you are a democrat, votes have consequences. Thanks a bunch.

Well, Kathy. That's what YOU get for NOT reading page 1867, section XIII, paragraph 4, subsection 5B.2a, sub-subsection 666.

Oops, almost forgot Kathy, and you'll really love this part --- Per 'the Bill' you didn't read --- for complaining about 'The Bill' in public you are hereby required to report to the Soylent Green Factory Friday at Noon EST.

See ya, ta-ta, it's been a slice.

(any Bill that is more that 12 single sided pages should go right into the shredder. Because if you cant 'say it' in a dozen pages, it shouldn't be said in the first place.)

Woulda, coulda, shoulda.

I call BS. Dahlkemper had a chance to step back when Pelosi yammered about passing the bill to see what`s in it... yet she readily voted “yes” anyway.

If she and the other dems who sold out had any honor they would do anything and everything they can to defeat Zero in the upcoming election.

...and anyone with half a brain knows where that is going.

But if the bill gives the HHS the power to make that decision, it’s effectively in the bill.

Kathy, really! Everybody on this board knew, and we didn’t have to read the bill. Stinging is in a scorpion’s nature. Tyranny is in Obama’s nature.

You are lenient, my limit was one page and it MUST be read. In addition,
you cannot be a sponsor of a bill unless it is read and both sides must
be presented by sponsors. No more one sided sponsorships. No add on
amendments unrelated to the legislation. IMHO there should also be a limit on the number of bills that can be considered in any particular year.

I was thinking that it would be typed, or printed, the 'legal standard way' -- triple spaced. So notes can be written and/or lines edited when reading your first copy. Plus with a new Bill, 'I'm pretty sure', you first have to reference the old Bill (or Law) to be revised, so that takes up space first.

But one page works for me too. That's the length of my Village's Firearms Laws (It's single spaced).

Give her a break, Maybe she didn’t know what would come of the Obamacare bill.

It’s hard to think straight when you have your head up Nancy Pelosi’s rectum.

Anyone want to take a bet on who this ex Representative CINO will vote for in November?

She’s not in Congress any longer, having lost in ‘10. The filing deadline is next week, but she hasn’t filed yet...possibly she is considering a run or wants to run for some other lower office.

So far as I know, her family owns what was a successful jewelry shop...the arena in Erie was named “Dahlkemper Arena” back in the 1980’s...apparently it’s not called that any longer.
