The abortion provider uses a vast media and political network to maintain its subsidies from government and private charities.
The Susan G. Komen Foundation, an organization dedicated since 1982 to fighting, and one day curing, breast cancer, decided to extricate itself from the culture wars by discontinuing grants to Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest provider of abortions. The grants Komen had been making amounted to $650,000 last year, funding some 19 local Planned Parenthood programs that offered manual breast exams but only referrals for mammograms performed elsewhere.
The reality is that Planned Parenthood—with annual revenues exceeding $1 billion—does little in the way of screening for breast cancer. But the organization is very much in the business of selling abortions—more than 300,000 in 2010, according to Planned Parenthood. At an average cost of $500, according to various sources including Planned Parenthood's website, that translates to about $164 million of revenue per year.
So how did Planned Parenthood and its loyal allies in politics and the media react to Komen's efforts to be neutral in the controversy over abortion?
Faced with even the tiniest depletion in the massive river of funds Planned Parenthood receives yearly, the behemoth mobilized its enormous cultural, media, financial and political apparatus to attack the Komen Foundation in the press, on TV and through social media.
The organization's allies demonized the charity, attempting to depict the nation's most prominent anti-breast cancer organization as a bedfellow of religious extremists. A Facebook page was set up to "Defund the Komen Foundation." In short, Planned Parenthood took breast-cancer victims as hostages.
Komen's leaders had good reason to believe their organization could disintegrate under Planned Parenthood's assault. On Friday the charity issued a statement "apologizing to the American public for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of

So has anyone here ever donated to Komen before? If so, will this Planned Parenthood thing change your future donations?
My wife had a Komen bumper sticker and I made her take it off her car last week!
Pro-life and Catholic forums and email-lists have been telling people not to donate to Komen for years. I go out of my way not to buy the pink ribbon products. But it appears that this awareness was not very widespread. That’s why it is hilarious that Komen has shot itself in the foot by now making everyone on the right and left mad at them. The Leftists now know that Komen is not lockstep with their agenda, and the Right is now fully aware of Komen’s hypocrisy as well.
My family has ticked off a few Komen fund raisers when we politely explained to them that because of Komen’s support of Planned Parenthood and refusal to acknowledge the abortion-breast cancer link, we wouldn’t be donating, thank you.

Now, the pro-aborts and pro-lifers alike don't trust Komen.

Breast cancer is over-whelmingly a disease that effects women and I believe concentrating on that one type of cancer is done to the exclusion of males and I believe that is some of the animating factor to the organization. I wouldn't donate to a charity that worked exclusively for prostate cancer either.
But a lot of guys WOULD! That gives me an idea. I'm going to start my own foundation dedicated to the cure for prostate cancer. I'll call it (JimRed's surname) For The Cure. I'll be the CEO/CFO and pay myself a modest salary ($199K sounds about right) and hire most of my family members. Whatever's left will go to PC research!

Drinking 3-5 cups of green tea / day reduced breast cancer risks by 40%.
You are not alone. I will not support Komen because they help fund the nation's number one abortion provider.
Strike 1: They willingly support an organization whose primary goal is to kill babies.
Strike 2: They give them money for breast health when PP provides NO mammograms.
Strike 3: Komen fails to address the link between abortion and breast cancer.
You're out, Susan G. Komen. We're paying attention and you have lost your credibility.
All institutions veer left, given enough time.
I think donors to Komen ought to ask for their money back.
My understanding is it's a couple of thousand a year, but because it's thought of as a "woman's disease", I wonder how many men a year delay diagnosis and treatment because they falsely believe they can't get it or because of the stigma attached to it?
What do all those pretty pink ribbon decals, donations, and marches for the “cause” do to induce medical researchers to work harder to find cures?
And if a “cure” was discovered, would it become common knowledge, and made readily available? No.
"Give us money, OR ELSE!" is indeed their approach. Their swollen, turgid sense of entitlement makes Moochie look humble.
