I let my guests smoke in my place.

So then, keyboard commando, tiptoeing through your spittle-flecked posts, I see you invite into your home as guests stupid, impotent, low class, unmanly, poor, littering, ignorant, trashy scumbags with whom you must identify.

Why invite such loathesome creatures into your home if it were otherwise? It would take a creature of monumental spinelessness and stupidity to do so.

Because they are not the AVERAGE smoker. Like the numerous anecdotes offered as a defense against the overwhelming statistical evidence - they are both rather intelligent and well educated and middle class. I have known them for years and like many of my old friends - they smoke. I am not anti-smoker - despite the tendency of myopic smokers to think any criticism means I am “one of them”!

Like I said, I would have sympathy for smokers not being able to smoke on a public beach - IF they didn't litter butts all over the beach.

But they do - so I don't.
