Bashir Believes Evangelicals Won't Vote For Romney Because Book of Mormon . . . Boring?
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 02/09/2012 7:12:24 PM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

A festering three-fer for the odious Martin Bashir. Not content to inflict him on the viewing public him during his own slot, MSNBC put Bashir on The Ed Show this evening, where he proceeded to slime, in one fetid fell swoop, Mormons, evangelicals, and Mitt Romney. With Schultz all too quick to agree, Bashir claimed most evangelicals wouldn't support Romney because of his membership in the LDS church.

For his purposes, Bashir badly misrepresented a Mark Twain quote. Bashir claimed that "the vast majority" of evangelicals share Twain's view that the Book of Mormon is "chloroform," implying there was something poisonous about it. But reading what Twain wrote, it's obvious he was merely claiming to find the book boring.

So many MSNBC hosts to detest. But Bashir is my personal un-favorite. Here’s a good example why. Ping to Today show list.

A coon hound swallowed a peach pit, and it came to pass.

The Mormon faith is about the clearest evidence available for
the proposition that religion is (wait for it) ... man made.

He’s right. There is no piece of literature more boring or badly written than the Book of Mormon.

To attribute this tasteless biscuit of a writing to the work of the living God is most inappropriate.

Newt and Rick won't take Romney out but a pretty blond by the name of Tricia Erickson will. Erickson's credentials are imppecable. Her father was a Bishop, like Romney. Her family still are practicing Mormon.

CAN MITT ROMNEY SERVE TWO MASTERS is available on Amazon. The first two chapters are there for anyone to read. Available in paperback and kindle.

Romney will not be president. The choice simply is will it be before or after he gets the nomination. The choice is ours.

The pen is mightier than the....

The problem for the GOPE is that their candidate, Romney, was never vetted on the details of the Mormon issue. The MSM and left will not be so kind should Mitt snare the nomination, they will tear him a new one. And the Left has no reason not to go nuclear negative on Romney given his campaign strategy.

Allegedly descended from “Heaven” on golden plates that have never been found....sounds suspiciously similar to origins of the “Holy” Qua’an.

Same script, different actors.

I picked up a copy of the Book of Mormon at a library sale—I was curious and it only cost $1. But I’m having the same problem as Twain. I just can’t slog through the prose.

Mormons are wrong but I believe most of them are good people. Romney’s Mormonism is among the least of my concerns about him. And I prefer a Mormon to a Muzz (no apology to CAIR) any day.

Me, too, but someone as high up as Romney has to be versed in the nonsense that is so irrational it makes islam look rational. Their main prophets were very corrupt and immoral people also and treated women like islam does (almost).

Knowing that this person is so completely irrational and not able to analyze anything—is disturbing if he is to be President.

Agree totaly. Mitt poses no more danger of Proselytizing Mormonism from the White House than Donny and Marie did on their TV show. To think so is a sign of insucurity in your own faith. If I were to list all my dislikes about Romney, that list would be long, but not on that list would be that he is a Mormon.

Irrational or not, I don't think Romney's political views are shaped by his religion. And the big difference is that Mormons, unlike many Muslims, don't force conversions, don't advocate violence (nor practice or tolerate terrorism) to spread their religion; and whether their prophets did or not, don't abuse or subjugate women in any way comparable to Islam.

I think folks are naive to think that the underpinnings of Romney’s vile liberalism will not be his undoing.

Tricia Erickson has taken on Mitt Romney and the entire LDS movement in a way which is spreading like a firestorm.

CAN MITT ROMNEY SERVE TWO MASTERS? just might save our country.
