Canada's prime minister on Friday made his strongest comments yet in support of a proposed pipeline from oil-rich Alberta to the Pacific coast, saying his government was committed to ensuring the controversial project went ahead.

"We have abundant supplies of virtually every form of energy. And you know, we want to sell our energy to people who want to buy our energy -- it's that simple," Harper told a business dinner in Guangzhou.

The Keystone pipeline as a one act play:

Canada to USA: "Please let us build a pipeline from our oil resources in Northern Alberta to your refineries in Texas. It will create thousands of jobs immediately. Your increasing oil finds in North Dakota will be able to access this pipeline. You will displace oil from Venezuela (an enemy) with a secure supply from a long time ally. It will be an uninterruptible energy supply that cannot be blockaded or embargoed. You can process this oil and export the products, you can refill your SPR, you can use it domestically. It will increase tax revenues. The pipeline will not cost US taxpayers a dime. Three years of environmental (delay) study have found it safe. Can we build it, please?"

USA to Canada: "Go f*ck yourself."

Canada to USA: "Okay." (in sotto voice) "You'll be sorry."

I hope that Canada can hold off a few more months, until the American electorate can evict (I’d like to see deportation) the current foreign usurpers now in high office, and insert some adult Americans, who with all our individual help, restore the this Republic.

You needn’t worry about anything being built to head to China too soon.

The lunatics in power up here have agreed to hear from every lefty on the planet (funded by some of the American left)as to why we should not be building the pipeline. They have these little sessions set up for a long, long time, pretty much putting things on hold for awhile.

evict? or deportation? How about trials and life in prison? There needs to be a precedent set.

I think this pipeline will go in at some point, it’s just a matter of when.

Well, if you want the truth... The resource is so vast (more oil than in Saudi Arabia) that both pipelines will be built. The tragedy is that the Keystone XL could have been finished by now, or at least underway.

Yes he has:

1. He stands up to dictators, of course he can afford to because we don't need their stinking oil.

2. He stands up for Israel, because its the right thing to do.

3. He is going to balance the federal budget in a few years.

4. He is lowering taxes.

5. He is tightening immigration, especially from moslem countries.

6. He is getting tougher on criminals and crime.

7. He is getting rid of the long gun registry.

I could go on but I will simply note that Canada posted the greatest percentage population growth in the G8 recently. The birth rate is up. When people feel more confident of their future, they have more children.

I got your oil pipeline, Harper, right here.

I can't blame the Canadians for selling their energy and making money for their economy, they are doing the right thing.

North Dakota - Republican
South Dakota - Republican
Nebraska - Republican
Kansas - Republican
Oklahoma - Republican
Texas - Republican

They should form a consortium called the Midwest tradse council (MTC) and together work with the Canadian government to get Keystone rolling.

These states should turn around and tell Obama to go pound sand. In addition, since this wasn’t approved by Washington, all tax revenue that would go to the government will instead be collected by the states and returned to the citizenry.

Yeah, Canada is selling energy to the chicomms that you won't buy from us.

You are buying their cheap manufactured goods AND borrowing the money from them to do so, indenturing your children to them. So WTF is your point?

“USA to Canada: “Go f*ck yourself.””

More like USA to Canada:

“The Canadian tar sand oil is nearly identical to Venezulean heavy crude.
http://oilsands.infomine.com/countries/)

Shipping oil by pipeline is cheaper than shipping by tanker so Canadian oil would displace Venezualan oil. Furthermore, the USA refineries were designed for Venezualan oil due to geographic proximity but could easily switch to Canadian oil. The rest of the world would have difficulty refining Venezualan oil because they are designed for Arabian light.

Since we like Chavez and the social justice he brings to South America, we choose Chavez over you people in Canada.”

My point is oil is a strategic commodity, and when war breaks out with china it wont stop at the Canadian border.

I ask again, what are you talking about? What do you mean by this?

Not sure why this is such a controversy on the US side. If I was the Canadian PM, I would do the same. When 99% of your energy exports goes to one country, i.e., the United States, then every little hiccup that occurs South of the border, whether they be economic or political, severely affects the Canadian energy industry. By diversifying her energy exports to Asia and China, she tempers the affects of what goes on in the US. This simply is smart business practice known as "diversification". Nothing new.

The downside to exporting energy to China, is that Canada may soon have the same problem as Australia, where export of commodities will strengthen her currency, and cause non-energy industries to struggle a bit. The upside is, Canadian consumers will have a strong currency as they travel abroad for vacation :)
