I believe that if he had just ignored Mitt and instead campaigned as hard against Obama, Newt would be on top now - and our next president.

Actually, I think if he just had a good debate in Fla. that would be true. The problem is with his baggage and the resources of his opposition he has to be just about perfect, which is not something I think he is going to be able to do.

Article 1, Section 7, clause 1.

That is all I have to say to Oliver North - the Constitutional criminal.

Yes, he means the unscathed Santorum who hasn’t been subjected to Romney’s slime machine.

That's a point, and that's why I don't want to see Newt (or Santorum) leave the race. I don't think Romney can shoot at two targets.

He's starting to go after Santorum now. Maybe that means Newt will win some of the Southern states. I won't cry.

Anything to keep Mitt from getting 1144 delegates.

I have no prob with Newt being the nominee providing he can get his electability matters squared away with female voters.

And I have no problem with Santorum being the nominee.

Actually, Warner supported Marshall Coleman. Coleman was a former RINO Attorney General who ran as an Independent to screw North.

Sir-

You are absolutely correct and I stand humbled and corrected. Faulty memory on my part and I should’ve checked my facts before posting.

I knew that John Warner sabotaged Ollie; but, I had forgotten it was the Independent Coleman (RINO Republican) that sabotaged Ollie. Somewhat ironically, the Dem who won; Chuck Robb, John Warner and Ollie North all served as commissioned officers in the Marine Corps. Coleman also served in the Marine Corps; and I assume he was likely a JAG officer; however, his Wikipedia bio does not make that clear.

Thx for setting the record straight!!!

Regards,

Geoff

Just listened to Romney speak at CPAC....I laughed til I cried when Romney said..." The American people are learn-oops! yearning for a President who will tell them the truth". No wonder he stumbled in saying that, he's such a liar!...

Mittens just reeks of phoniness. He's all crib notes and programming. He doesn't have an honest conviction in his whole body. The man doesn't stand for anything but his own grandiosity.

Why some so-called conservatives support this fraud, is a complete mystery to me. He's as transparent as the day is long.

I will never forget watching Oliver North sitting in front of congress with his lawyer and the thousands of letters for his support being brought in while the stupid congress men tried to rail road him!

Then his lawyer saying “what do you think I am, a potted Plant?”

He was awesome then and still a great man!

Let's hope we can head him (Romney) off early and save them the trouble!

Exactly....and what I am loving is our side has some excellant players....and they know for certain Newt can and does know some plays that work. I soooo don't want Romney even close to the finish line....they are saying the GOP is telling Romney to wrap this up, so the pressure on Romney is great...I hope he folds under it.

He’s got a wonderful list there! I see Zell Miller is on there. I haven’t seen or heard of him in ages! When did he endorse Newt? I looked him up online to see what he was doing now. I read that he was teaching in a college and was not supporting Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama in 2008! I don’t know who he was for, but I’m wondering if he may have voted for McCain/Palin?

Didn’t John Warner endorse Marshall Coleman, the RINO “Independent” who drained votes from North? Nancy Reagan spoke out against North too. People in VA fear strong conservatives.

You are correct on both counts. I had posted that Warner had backed the Dem candidate (Senator Chuck Robb; LBJ's son-in-law and former military aide-de-camp) on another thread. Another poster corrected me on that and I acknowleged they were correct. ‘Hope I didn't mislead you or anyone else w/my first erroneous post on that issue.

Yes, Nancy Reagan, made a statement that LtCol North had mislead President Reagan on Iran-Contra. I wouldn't hold that against her as I believe she was likely manipulated by some of the GOP elites (I would suspect it was likely John Warner or others in his “camp.”)

Virginia is a lot more complex than your statement about “strong conservatives” indicates. Native Virginians are very conservative; however, their strength has been offset by the large number of liberals who have migrated into Northern VA from Fredericksburg northward. All this is tied into the ever growing “inside the beltway” culture that now comprises NoVA and makes it a completely different and densely populated political “animal” than the rest of the Commonwealth. A similar liberal influence is growing in the various college/university areas; UVa/Charlottesville area is notably a part of that phenomenon.

Those factors, combined w/voting blocks that are traditionally Dem-controlled (i.e.: Blacks; union/coal miners in SW VA etc) make electing Conservatives a lot more difficult; however, much of the blame can be attributed to the “go along/get along” attitude of the state GOP machine (i.e.; Gov McDonnell; Lt Gov Bolling, Eric Cantor, George Allen ...the list could go on and on). The state GOP controls the message and many times that means the majority of VA voters are not being well informed on candidates or issues. The offshoot is that too often moderates are masqueraded as “conservatives.”

There is some hope, though, as the current Attorney General, Ken Cuccinelli, is taking on the GOP machine in his run for Governor. (Lt Gov Bolling is the “insiders” hand picked guy.) “Cooch” seems to be a good guy and has been willing to take a stand for Conservatism on several high profile issues. Hopefully the GOP elitists will not be able to sabotage him in the way they have Newt and the other non-Romney candidates in the current primary season.

Regards,

-Geoff
