UAW continues protesting right-wing social policies

The United Auto Workers plans to take part in more non-violent protests in its fight against what it calls right-wing policies that have hurt the middle class.

UAW president Bob King told a crowd of more than 500 at the 75th anniversary of union's first contract with General Motors that more direct action like such as the Flint sit-down strike of 1937 is needed today.

“They’re trying to shred the social contract,” King said at the event held in Flint.

“We don’t spend too much. This is still a rich country The problem is we’ve lost our moral compass,” said King.

“However, the right-frame wing framework used to run the country over the past 30 years has left workers struggling to hang on to a middle class standard of living. In Michigan, we started taxing pensions, while giving a tax break to businesses,” he said.

“I know a lot of people who could collect a pension but are afraid to retire...”

UAW is planning to tank their bad PR even further into the gutter. Smart.

That paper evidently doesn’t know what “right wing” means.

500 union workers? Sounds like he couldn’t whip up a big fervor for men marrying men, murdering unborn babies and teaching 5 year olds how to masturbate in public schools. No surprise there.

We don’t spend too much. This is still a rich country

Leftists believe that as long as there are rich people, that there is wealth that should be confiscated and squandered. One trillion? Two trillion? Ha! We are only scratching the surface.

Bet they love the fact that a conservative UAW group is growing in influence and actually testified in congress the other day against union political funding.

Interesting model to use. By 1937, Hitler’s rise and Japan’s ascension was OBVIOUS. It was clear that the world was heading toward a massive, massive, war. Yet...the UAW could care less - they only wanted to “stick it to the man”.

That’s why unions have no place, in any role, in this country.

Good history.

There’s also the story of the sabotage of defense industries by unions in the run-up to Pearl Harbor.

Sabotage was so bad at the Willow Run B-24 factory in Michigan that ‘Will It Run?’ became gallows humor among airmen in WWII. That’s right, union brethren killed their fellow citizens, imagining they were advancing socialism!

Please!!! Don’t even go there. The unions had to be BOUGHT OFF by FDR just to help out in the war effort. It is sickening that their leaders weren’t executed for treason back then. But we had FDR running things...

The unions are no better now. There is simply NO ROOM for them if the United States is to have any chance at all in competing against China and emerging countries. We simply no longer have the luxury to be able to withstand a 5th column inside of our factories. The unions must be disbanded and their leaders eliminated from ever having power again in this country.

I don’t doubt you, but do you have a cite?

I’d heard Willow Run called “Will it run?” but never knew why.

Any conservative buying a GM, Ford, or Chrysler vehicle and thinking they’re doing a good thing for the rest of the country is deluding himself.

I shall buy Toyota or Nissan.

I read that Detroit News article this morning. I am curious to know how King plans to identify the “1%” for his goons to attack. Are they going to drive thru neighborhoods, determine that someone has too nice a house and too nice a car in the driveway then summary justice.

Also, King must have missed the comintern meetings at the White House where Obama BFF and GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt was present giving the fuhrer salute. He obviously doesn’t know they’re on the same team to destroy the country and make Akbar Hussein Maobama el Presidente for life.

lol.

The left has sent your jobs away by making it illogical to do business in this country.

Yep, blame someone else. Typical.

I learned of this story years ago from the Time-Life World War II book series published in 1978, in the ‘The Home Front: USA’ volume.

The story is scrubbed from more recent sources, but there are plenty of older ones, and there are scholarly papers that mention this story.

Should have been treated as treason.
