Thanks Barack… 3 West Virginia Coal Plants to Close

Three West Virginia coal plants just announced they will close this year. Metro News reported:

Ohio based FirstEnergy Corporation announces it will close three coal fired power plants in West Virginia by this fall. The closings come directly from the impact of new federal EPA regulations.

The plants to close are Albright Power Station, Willow Island Power Station, and the Rivesville Power Station. The company says 105 employees will be directly impacted.

The three plants produce 660 megawatts and about 3-percent of FirstEnergy’s total generation. In recent years, the plants served as “peaking facilities” and generated power during times of peak demand for power.

The plants operated under subsidiary Monongahela Power. Mon Power recently finished a study of unscrubbed coal fired plants in the system to determine the potential impact of the most recent environmental regulations from EPA. Company officials determined the EPA’s Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) made it unfeasible to retrofit or continue operating the three plants.

“The high cost to implement MATS and other environmental rules is the reason these Mon Power plants are being retired,” said James R. Haney, regional president of Mon Power and president of West Virginia Operations for FirstEnergy.

This is sickening. One of the poorest states in the nation and this national hack just keeps on trying to bring us down.

Where does Chicago and D.C. get their electricity? I think the only blackouts there should be would be where his constituents are.

Prayers for those being slashed and burned, especially the kids. I’ve been there.

That is the sound of WV former coal plant employees changing their registration from Democrat to Republican.

His goal is to destroy the US economy, to convert us into a socialist nation, to make sure we are not the sole superpower, and to bring us down to 3rd world levels of consumption. That is his goal.

Why are you asking “don’t you hear us”? When it rains do you shout at the clouds “don’t you hear us”? The rain is doing what it does. Obama is doing what Soros ordered him to do and he likes doing it.

What do you mean “don’t you hear us”? Sure, a rapist hears a woman scream “stop” but he doesn’t stop his violent act now, does he? He laughs at her screams. They are music to his ears.

Obama is raping America and if you keep screaming, it is just music to his ears.

We need a moral electorate to elect conservative politicians. That is the answer. It is also why we are not getting conservative politicians. We no longer have a sufficient large part of the electorate that is moral. We have a huge portion that now just wants freebies for nothing and will gladly trade their freedom for it.

America is done, it is just a question of how slowly we slide into oblivion. The more conservative our politicians, the slower we slide into the abyss. The more we have like Obama, the faster we race to our fall.

Two very good democratic senators represent them. I would keep voting them in until everyone is laid off.

Didn’t West Virginia vote for Obama? Didn’t he tell them the coal plants were on his hit list?

West Virginia did NOT vote for Obama. Unfortunately, we did vote for two democrat Senators to help him push his agenda.

Screw them. Their two Dem Senators are helping to destroy America. Kinda like Jewish voters wringing their hands about the short term prospects of Israel.

Yes he sure did say “I will close the coal plants in WV”...and then they went and voted for him anyways....I watched that state specifically on election night and when I saw he won that state, I just couldn’t believe it.

Wish I could feel sorry them, but I don’t.

How does that payback Obama?

Manchin actually is one of his biggest detractors. He voted consistently against him and fights him on coal and other issues. He is a deficit hawk and works with the GOP to get taxes and spending under control.

I personally know Manchin and he’s a good guy conservative.

The last coal miner to run the UMWA was Arthur Miller.
It’s been suits (meaning radical lawyers!) for some time.

The registration is overwhelming in WV. He is good right where he is. Nobody can be consistently elected state-wide in WV as a Republican.

This points out a failure within the GOP Establishment. They don’t try to re-register people because these Blue Collar/Socially-Conservative Democrats that should be registered Republicans don’t fit the mold of their kind of Republican. They’re interested in the pseudo-elites and that’s why the GOP is in trouble.

Is there a level at which the emissions aren’t toxic?

There should be no environmental regulations, if people live downwind from these plants, then move.
