Remember when no one understood why ABC asked about contraception at the NH Debate?
Legal Insurrection blog ^ | 2/14/2012 | Prof. Jacobson

Remember when George Stephanopoulos, at the New Hampshire Republican debate on January 7, brought up and harped on whether the candidates thought states could ban contraception?

Everyone, at least on our side of the aisle, shook their heads in disbelief as to why Stephanopoulos was bringing up the issue. There was no active controversy over contraception, it wasn’t in the news, and there were far more pressing political issues, yet what seemed like an eternity of debate time was devoted to the subject at the insistence of Stephanopoulos.

It was, shall we say, something out of left field.

When Romney said, it’s working just fine, leave it alone, everyone laughed. [video at link--look at Romney being flabbergasted at the question]

Newt’s comeback was prophetic in hindsight. [Video at link, have to say, Newt's answer is superb]

Well what do you know, about a month later the Obama administration proposes administrative rules under Obamacare which would require free contraception be provided even by religious institutions which oppose contraception on religious grounds.

It’s almost as if Stephanopoulos got the memo first. Unless, of course, you believe in coincidences.

"Is this the same George Stephanopoulos
who enabled ABC-DNC fraud before the American public?"

They can dress Steppy up any way they like, but they'll never wash the stench of Democratic operative off of him.

Steppy was a professional paid apologist for the impeached rapist bubba klinton. That alone shows he has absolutely no scruples.

The GOP is stupid for allowing mainstream media personalities to moderate debates. They are the enemy, and they are in cahoots with Obama

If you continuously make the same mistakes its no longer just a matter of being stupid. It sounds like the GOP might be unlearnable or, worse they are complicit?
Otherwise, the left diseminates, and controls, the “news” while telling people ‘what to think’ but not ‘how to think’
Not to mention the bulk of entertainment industry is
from a mostly leftist perspective.
The Entertainment reinforces the lefty message/ideology.
All the this is a major handicap for the right.
I don’t see how that changes until, and unless, we create a conservative version of Hollywood. Then the Right can circumvent this leftist machine. As well as, alternative to the AP that we can circumvent the AP as well.

I don’t think it was particularly ominous. I just think liberals, and creepy little george stephanopolous in particular, spend waaaaaay too much of their time with their minds inside other people’s knickers.

You ar eboth sort of over-analyzing.

If economics become THE FOCUS - Obama loses - because his results are terrible - so ANYTHING that his team can spin - is better than economics.

If he can keep economics a sideshow, his lieing with a complicit media can make it about “the Republican Congress that stopped him” etc -

Remember - he only wants to dupe the same morons who voted for him last time. He just needs to keep them from paying attention for 5 minutes to his terrible economics.

He isn’t playing to win a debate - he is playing to win the votes of idiots.

According to an old post, Stephanopoulas and Obama graduated from Columbia University a year apart with same or similar majors. They may have had classes together, maybe with Pivins, and most likely knew each other. Has this been verified. If so, it could explain a lot about why George is Obama's favorite interviewer.

One of the worst debates of the primary campaign was also one of the best, thanks in part to Perry. It was a Saturday night in Manchester, N.H. — the first of a doubleheader. The moderators kept asking questions about contraception and homosexuality, as if, if the question were asked enough times, one of the candidates would crack, and admit secret plans to issue presidential orders to seize your birth control. Mitt Romney defended his record on marriage while governor of Massachusetts, championing the traditional family and its supportive institutions.

Newt Gingrich asked, “Should the Catholic Church be forced to close its adoption services in Massachusetts because it won’t accept gay couples?” — which is exactly what the state has done.
“Should the Catholic Church be driven out of providing charitable services in the District of Columbia because it won’t give in to secular bigotry?

Should the Catholic Church find itself discriminated against by the Obama administration on key delivery of services because of the bias and the bigotry of the administration?”

“The bigotry question goes both ways,” Gingrich said. “And there’s a lot more anti-Christian bigotry today than there is concerning the other side. And none of it gets covered by the news media.”

In what was turning into an ecumenical standoff, a Mormon and a Catholic convert were defending the conscience rights of Catholics, both knowing that issues about health-care mandates, abortion funding, government contracts, and rewriting marriage laws affect religious liberty at its core.

Rick Perry didn’t have to jump in, but he did. And the evangelical Christian presented an even clearer picture than his opponents:
“This administration’s war on religion is what bothers me greatly,” Perry said.
“When we see an administration that will not defend the Defense of Marriage Act; that gives their Justice Department clear instructions to go take the ministerial exception away from our churches — where that’s never happened before.
When we see this administration not giving money to Catholic Charities for sexually trafficked individuals because they don’t agree with the Catholic Church on abortion, that is a war against religion.”

Excellent commentary on how the Catholic Church sold out on abortion/contraception in the name of Dem “social justice”...

Yet when Andrew Breitbart said this very thing in his speech at CPAC - the crowd stared at him like a bunch of billy goats. That goes triple for the group of young fresh scrubbed faces to the right of the stage - who impolitely applauded no one but Romney.

I”ve been semi depressed for three weeks now since Florida. I’ve turned off Rush, Fox, not read of course NR. Getting everything from FR.

It looks like, unless something surfaces real fast to knock down Santorum, this guy is going to get the nomination or if not will broker some deal.

We have Newt in the capacity to lead us out of this mess. If you recall, the contraceptive question resulted in meandering senseless answers by Santorum.

People are into this guy because of the nice guy, sweater vest thing. Another light weight, Romney not much better, is going to get the nod.

There will be a better than average chance that Romney or Santorum will get beat by Obama.

I’m on that boat with you. I am not listening much to my radio programs and if I do, I usually end up clicking them off.

If Newt drops or it looks impossible for him, my interest in the presidential race is gone. I will go and vote against Obama but that is it.

I suppose the big thing to do now is look at the senate and congressional races and see where I can help most if my money and time isn’t going to the presidential race.

I also have a couple of books that were Christmas gifts, hopefully that will help keep my mind off of some of this. I wish we could see/hear more from Gingrich to help keep morale up. I really, REALLY want him as our president!

Oh, and I’ve stopped listening to FOX even before Fl— they seem so L bent on Romney it makes me ill. At least CNN is an equal opportunity hater of republican candidates. hahaha!

But yeah, FR is about the only decent place to follow the primary right now, in my opinion at least.

The entire question and debate only makes sense if you remember that for libtards contraception and abortion are one in the same and cannot be removed from each other. That includes this new 1st amendment violating policy.

The GOP is stupid for allowing mainstream media personalities to moderate debates.

They are the enemy, and they are in cahoots with Obama.

Of all the moronic traits of the GOP*, this is perhaps the singularly most moronic.
With 'open' primaries running a heel-biting second.
