Why the bleep does Argentina care about these islands anyway? Canada doesn’t care about the two French colonial islands south of Newfoundland. Some sort of weird national pride thing? Current population is around 3 thousand. GDP is around $100 million. A bad Sean Penn movie makes that much.

Colonialism? The people who live there want to remain part of the UK. The islands never belonged to Argentina...briefly they sent a garrison there but that was it. That does not give them claim to the islands.
The islands are part of the UK. Argentina lead a war of aggression against the UK in the 1980s to try to overtake the islands and they lost the war - the matter is settled. There is nothing to negotiate - Argentina has no claim to the islands.

Subsequently, in 1592, the islands were discovered by English explorer John Davis and claimed for the Queen. The islands were then uninhabited! Following discovery, the Falklands were first settled in 1766...by British colonists! At the time, there were no other inhabitants! In other words, the Falklands were British before there was an Argentina! Exactly. No serious person can even entertain the argument that Argentina has a claim to the islands against the British. This whole debate is completely absurd.
