The Arizona governor could deploy an armed, volunteer militia to respond to natural disasters and patrol the Arizona-Mexico border for illegal immigrants and drug-traffickers under a legislative proposal (SB1495, creates a volunteer state militia) to fund a state guard. The state would pay $1.9 million to activate the Arizona State Guard, created last year through an executive order signed by Republican Gov. Jan Brewer. Arizona would join 23 other states and territories with active guards, but the state would stand alone (as) its militia focused on border enforcement…

Will they accept volunteers from adjoining states?

How about part time residents?

This is great. I can see Holder and his peeps going to Federal Court now to try to stop a State from forming a militia. Especially a well regulated militia.

I think states like Georgia also have “militia” type organizations that respond to events just in the state. I think that’s what Clark Howard is part of, which is why he appears in ACUs during his Operation Clark Smart bits. I believe it’s called a State Defense Force or something like that.

Is this in addition to the State guard? Lord, if you are going to put them on the border please give them something more substantial than a 5.56. Happy hunting! Bring out the big guns, and of course the organizational strategy. I worry that when penned down, they simply scamper back to their side, making it an international crime. This won’t stop until they are hunted into their bedrooms. We cannot do that. Other border wars have the same problem. The pawns come out, fight and retreat and the bad guys calling the shots are safely in their own country.

This sounds really good, but what happens when an illegal sympathizing Democrat wins the governor’s office? My guess is one of two things: 1.) It gets shut down and never deployed, or 2.) It gets deployed to use against law abiding citizens of Arizona.

This is why I have said repeatedly......this nation’s problems are far too serious to be solved with temporary political elections.

” I can see Holder and his peeps going to Federal Court now to try to stop a State from forming a militia.”

South Carolina has had a state-supported militia since 1775 when Col. John Moultrie raised two battalions to defend Charleston harbor from an imminent invasion by the British navy.

That militia is atill active today and anyone can come down to SC and join.

BTW, that militia kicked butt when the British navy moved against Charleston in June, 1776.

Although Holder could give the AZ State Guard problems about patrolling the border, he can't stop AZ from forming it's own State Guard under Title 32, Section 109 of the US Code. AZ has finally joined 23 other States, and is now looking at funding and activating said Guard.

State Guard Association of the United States: units are typically called state defense forces, state guards, or state military reserves and are regulated by state law...some even use the word militia. They cannot be commandeered by the Fedgov.
