BANGKOK (AP) — An Iranian man carrying grenades blew off his own legs and wounded four civilians Tuesday after an earlier blast shook his house in Bangkok, Thai authorities said. The explosions came a day after an Israeli diplomatic car was bombed in India — an attack Israel blamed on Iran.

"He tried to wave down a taxi, but he was covered in blood, and the driver refused to take him," Pansiri said. He then threw an explosive at the taxi and began running.

No taxi and no legs. Now he's really going to need a lift.

Police who had been called to the area then tried to apprehend Moradi, who hurled a grenade to defend himself. "But somehow it bounced back" and blew off his legs, Pansiri said.

A passport found at the scene of one blast indicated the assailant was Saeid Moradi from Iran

Authorities also suspect, given the man's inept grenade handling skills, he may have also been travelling under the name Max Cleeland.

The sad part is that he wounded four presumably innocent bystanders.

I always wondered what happened to The Three Stooges. Looks like they moved to Iran and had kids.

Iran will keep trying. One of these days something will happen that we won't be joking about; let's hope it's not here in the US.

Oh the humanity!

...Another Iranian was detained Tuesday night at Bangkok's international airport as he attempted to leave for neighboring Malaysia, said police commander . Authorities were interrogating the man, but it was not yet known whether he was involved in Tuesday's blasts.

Last month, a Lebanese-Swedish man with alleged links to Hezbollah militants was detained by Thai police. He led authorities to a warehouse filled with more than 8,800 pounds (4,000 kilograms) of urea fertilizer and several gallons of liquid ammonium nitrate.

OK, Swed gets "interrogated" and leads police to munitions stash. Police are "interrogating" an Iranian fleeing their country.

Anyone want to wager that the interrogation will be more "harsh" than what the USA does to terrorists in GITMO?

The Thai police are going to learn a lot from those involved. I am certain that Israel and the USA will know many more details as to what Iran was really planning.

Since well before the failed attempt of a Saudi diplomat in the USA, Iran has been exporting terrorism. It is time that their leaders pay for their crimes.

“he may have also been travelling under the name Max Cleeland.”

Not nice to make fun of Max Cleland who lost his legs in Viet Nam.

“Right, but how did that happen?”

From Maury Cralle’, Battalion Executive Officer, 2d/12th Cavalry Battalion, 1st Air Cavalry Division:

“During the assault on Khe Sanh, Max Cleland, the Battalion Signal Officer, was at the Battalion Forward Command Post in heavy combat. I ordered Max on a combat mission to erect a radio relay antenna on a nearby mountain top.

As they were getting off the helicopter, Max saw a grenade on the ground and he instinctively went for it. It detonated and he lost his legs.”

It was later learned that it was another soldiers grenade.

What happened was that a real hero, in combat, was badly wounded. It doesn’t matter what form of friendly or enemy fire caused it.

You do not get to make fun or, in any way stand in judgement of our wounded soldiers on the field of battle.

You are correct, Cleland wasn't a hero. He made a blunder which was very costly to him:
When the helicopter landed, Cleland jumped out, followed by the two soldiers. They ducked beneath the rotors and turned to watch the liftoff. Cleland reached down to pick up a grenade he believed had popped off his flak jacket. It exploded, and the blast slammed him backward, shredding both his legs and one arm.
The left parades him around as a hero who jumped on a gernade to save others.

OK, I cited his commanding officer. Here is the citation:

http://www.buzzflash.com/contributors/04/02/con04074.html

If you disagree, you and Ann Coulter (whom I like) need to offer a counter citation.

Put up or shut up.

Bottom line, he was badly injured in Viet Nam by friendly fire. Demeaning him and joking about his injury, because of his current politics, whether it’s you or Ann Coulter is a disgrace.

To be fair the man was decorated prior to his injuries. However, very few are true heroes. It's an overused term that has been losing meaning with its misapplication.

Not everyone who served was a hero, nor are they above critcism or scrutiny due to their service. I served. I'm neither a hero or above reproach because of it.
