WASHINGTON - Mitt Romney takes a hard line against congressional earmarks, but the Republican presidential candidate had a more favorable view of federal pork-barrel spending as governor of Massachusetts.
Under Romney's leadership, Massachusetts sought tens of millions of dollars in earmarks for transportation projects through the state's congressional delegation.
A prime example was the $30 million his administration requested to renovate the historic Longfellow Bridge over the Charles River between Cambridge and Boston.

This is a good article to bookmark because this will be one of the lines of attack from the Romney Sleaze machine because of the proclivity of Santorum to pursue Earmarks and his past comments basically stating how proud he was of the fact.
Get this information out now in front of the attacks in order to blunt the charge from Romney.
Romney is anything but innocent.
Does that qualify as PORK?
Who knew....
Agreed.
Worth adding that RINOmney LARDED up the Olympics with earmarks.
Yes, after rooting out mormon crony capitalism and begging the US gov’t for more funds,
he also pursued every angle he could to land countless earmarks.
DON’T BELIEVE ANYTHING RINOmney says. When his lips are moving, he is selling you something false.
But his record at Bain proves he’s the main for the job, Union. /sarcasm. :-)
"Romney also presided over the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Games which received more than a billion dollars in federal funding for light rail and other transportation upgrades. At the time, those projects caught the attention of Senator John McCain, a prominent earmark critic who is now a top surrogate for the Romney campaign. McCain took to the Senator floor in 2000 to blast the skyrocketing cost of the winter games.
"And for the upcoming 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, the estimated cost to American taxpayers is 1.3 billion dollars. That's outrageous Mr. President. And it's a disgrace," McCain said.
Saved the Olympics with taxpayers money. It is always others money. Usually resulting in his own wealth and aggrandizement.
Good one.
