It’s a common misconception that Israel sends women into combat alongside men or in all female units like the Soviets did in WWII. It does neither. Israel has barred women from combat since 1950.

Congratulations to your wife and yourself for serving the country in such a splendid manner.

However, as far as the army is concerned, Newt is much more qualified than Santorum, without a shadow of a doubt.

Gingrich has served on the Hart-Rudman Commission, formally known as the U.S. Commission on National Security/21st Century.

For over two decades, Gingrich has taught at the United States Air Force’s Air University, where he is the longest-serving teacher of the Joint Flag Officer War fighting Course.

Santorum is very worrisome when considering how the next president will handle the military and important military decisions. Very worrisome.

He is religious to a T and loves his family. All well and good, but aside from that?

How about keep it in your pants, soldier Sir?

Are you really that naive? I'm sure if you looked hard enough you'll find pictures and video on the internet of soldiers have sex in combat.

I cannot speak of their roles as pilots in the Air Force but my experience in the Army was that the "success" of women was due to the fact that they were held to different physical standards than men. There was also a lot of pressure to promote them to and applaud them in as many positions as possible. The Officer Efficiency Report had a little check box that indicated that the said officer support the equality of women; and heaven help the officer who did not have that box checked.

None of this is to suggest a lack of respect for women. Men and women are just different. I feel sorry for those women who have been indoctrinated to have so little respect in themselves as women that they feel compelled to compete with men in masculine pursuits. The greatest form of misogyny is feminism.

Supposed Rick Santorum supporters bash Newt more than they bash Newt more than the bash Romney or Zero.

WHy not adhere to the sites request to support your candidate and stop bashing Conservatives like Newt. While some of us would tolerate Rick S as VP, you don’t see the majority of our posts against Santorum.

Quite the opposite. We post in favor of Newt which apparently bothers those like you who are unable to respect FR’d request to support your candidate and quit bashing other Conservatives.

That is what is telling. Those who bash Newt more than they bash Romney or Zero. It becomes nonsense when posting on a Conservatvie website such as FR.

Leave Newt alone. Support your candidate and move on.

Naive? What are you talking about? Asking a man to keep it in his pants is too much to ask especially since that’s the reason cited why women shouldn’t be there? That is a stunning similarity to muslim thinking.

Don’t people get tired of interpreting what politicians “are trying to say?”.
Santorum used “naturally,” women’s,” “emotions,” compromise mission” all in the same statement. In my opinion, he left too much room for speculation as to what he was “trying to say.”. I think we know precisely what men mean when they refer to women’s emotions. Most military women, away from their children and families would tell Santorum to go to ........ Newt is absolutely correct in calling him on this. Hopefully when negotiating with foreign leaders Santorum will have a better grip on his emotions and not compromise his mission by not being able to naturally say what he means.

“It’s a common misconception that Israel sends women into combat alongside men or in all female units like the Soviets did in WWII. It does neither. Israel has barred women from combat since 1950.”

What are you talking about?

In 2000, the Equality amendment to the Military Service law stated that “The right of women to serve in any role in the IDF is equal to the right of men.”

Women did start to enter combat support and light combat roles in a few areas, including the Artillery Corps, infantry units and armored divisions.

By 2006, the first female pilots and navigators graduated from the IAF training course, and several hundred women entered combat units. When the Second Lebanon War broke out, it was the first time since 1948 that women were in field operations alongside men. A combat option for women is the Caracal Battalion, which is a highly operational force that is made up of 70 percent female soldiers. The unit undergoes training like any combat infantry.

Look pal, when Newts right I support him, when he’s wrong I oppose him. And if you don’t like that then don’t read what I post. Simple, right?

Jim Robinson requested that we support our Conservative candidate and stop bashing other Conservative candidates.

LEARN to support your candidate ONLY. Quit bashing Newt. Newt is Conservative and is for our Country.

We want NEWT to win. You want Santorum to win. Focus on Santorum and quit bashing Newt. Jim Robinson has requested this. Learn to grow up.

Well then, if Rick feels that attractions between men and women on the battlefield can compromise a mission, he needs to ban gays and lesbians in combat because it would have the same effect. Gee, didn’t hear him voice his concern on this combat scenario, just the heterosexual relationships. Give me a break, he was referring to women’s hormones and emotions.

Women in the Israeli armed forces were barred from combat after a report highlighted problems with women in combat in the 1948 war. Between that time and 2000, when the rules you cited were added to the law by female lawmakers, no women were thus allowed. Since that time a very small number of women have been allowed into combat roles, such as pilots. Now, as you stated, some female infantry have been deployed, including the Caracal Battalion.

However, the trend is not encouraging for further inroads. “The army opposes using women as combat troops in the infantry and tank corps, as too few of them can meet the physical requirements “like marching 90 kilometers while carrying a heavy load”,...”

No one is sitting in a ditch for thirty days anymore, that only happened during WWI, so your quote is irrelevant to the present discussion.

Give me the context of that quote. Source, link, anything.
