You’re right; there is nothing in his words to indicate he has any idea what the average American is dealing with.
To be fair to him, he never understood what we deal with; he is a product of affirmative action in a socialist dump in the upper Midwest. He has never had his performance evaluated in a job (until now, and he doesn’t like it), he’s never worked overtime (or possible ever worked at all), and he certainly has never had people be honest with him (doesn’t seem to like this, either).
