Houston also struggled with something else that black Republicans and black non-Democrats can understand: ridicule and ostracism for "selling out," or "acting white," or not being "black enough."

So, she became a cliche' and exhibited the worst of stereotype behavior. That showed 'em.

Anytime a black ‘makes it’ you get this type of comment, IMO, usually from blacks themselves. They called Clarence Thomas an Uncle Tom, Condi Rice something else, I can’t remember.

If she had been smart she would have taken the money and laughed all the way to the bank,,—but no—she had to prove them wrong. That took her to the cemetary.

What is it about being successful that is to be ashamed of.

Tell those who say you arent black to kiss your black ass.

Right now we have a President trying to prove his blackness-——and succeeding IMO. He is fugging up like Hogan’s goat.
Turning our country into a third world crap hole, like Zimbabwe.

and although Whitney had her demons and let them overtake her, I believe she truly loved Jesus, not just talk. Her church meant church, not politics.

What better way to do that than to marry a bad boy? And the drug abuse makes her a flawed person fighting to overcome her demons. Makes her relatable.”

...I doubt she put that much thought into it. Drugs and alcohol destroy lots of people, plain and simple. Not just ones that are called “uncle Tom”.

Interesting that after she married Bobbie Brown, who beat the sh** out of her and got herself hooked on drugs, she was plenty "Black Enough" for her African American critics.

Too White? Well, I guess in the end, she did resemble Natalie Wood.

The black churches have fallen down on the job. Instead of teaching right from wrong, they have sold their souls to the progressive movement and the Democrat party.

I call total BS on this one.

I never ever heard this from anybody.

One time she did get criticism was when she had the onscreen romance with Kevin Costner...and some blacks got ruffled a bit

Does this mean that, because I like jazz, soul, blues, funk, and Afro-Latin, and I don’t like country and its roots and branches, I’m not white enough?

Not surprised. ‘Real’ blacks considered her a Tom.

Why do black people segregate themselves from the rest of society? Why are they predominantly so racist? It seems to me the black people alive today should be thankful that slaves were brought over to this country, otherwise they would be trying to outrun cheetah’s and suffering from drought in the plains of Africa.

I understand where Elder is coming from, and I've never liked Whitney Houston.

Beautiful voice, but generic music. Put me to sleep.

Where there's a shell, there's a way.

25 years ago, we had Ronald Reagan, Johnny Cash, and Bob Hope.
Today we have Obama, no cash, and no hope!

If you can't appreciate the pure beauty of the violin after hearing this, something's wrong with your ears.

Or you can get raw with these strings.

How about this gamechanger from America's Got Talent (which they SHOULD have won).

And finally, this, dedicated to the one and only rdb2, whose eyes are growing dim.

Either way, the violin is sweet yet LETHAL.

Do it!
